We are currently recruiting for OICNW - Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch ready to join Research-Survey vessel
Applicants must have a combination of Yacht and conventional vessel experience.
The vessel will be operated as a research vessel with yacht standard.
Embarkation beginning of next year - 2020
Salary in USD/per month worked - TBD upon interview
Contract approx. 12 weeks on / 6 weeks off
The candidates must have DP experience, DP unlimited Certificate appreciated, but not mandatory!

Introduction

This Job Description applies to the vessel's OICNW - Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch.

Minimum qualification requirements

The OICNW qualifications shall as a minimum be in line with the flag state requirements

Authority

  • The OICNW has the authority to carry out bridge, deck and safety watches as directed by the Master, and to take necessary actions in line with the Master's Standing Orders and the vessel QSMS system.
  • The OICNW is authorized to cover both Navigational Officer and Safety Officer related duties and must be familiarized with both roles.

Responsibility

The OICNW has daily responsibilities of his watch and the main duties are:

  1. Perform navigation duties and manoeuvrings of the ship according to the Bridge Operational procedures
  2. Prepare Voyage Plans.
  3. Update and correct the latest Notice to Mariners.
  4. Maintain Bridge equipment including Radio equipment in good order as per maintenance plan and procedures.
  5. Assist in deck operations, including washing down and performing necessary maintenance, and contribute to that the activity is in accordance with operational requirements
  6. On his watch and in co-operation with the Master/Chief Officer supervise the actions of the Deck Crew.
  7. On his watch during DP Operation, making sure that the Task Plan is being followed accordingly, coordinate with Surveyors and ROV in critical operations.
  8. Prepare appropriate checklist before and after the DP Operation.
  9. During watch perform recordings in logbooks and other applicable records.
  10. Execute the duties of Safety Officer which are, but not necessarily limited to:
    • In consultation with the Master and in accordance with the stated schedule arrange HSE Meetings and Working Environment Committee Meetings
    • Ensure that the Lifesaving Appliances are inspected and that these are maintained and within the expiring date as appropriate.
    • Ensure that the Fire Extinguishing Equipment is inspected and that this is maintained and within expiring date as appropriate.
    • Ensure that the personal protection equipment is inspected and maintained within the expiring date as appropriate.
    • Ensure that the Mustering and Fire & Safety Plans are correct and up to date.
    • Ensure that the Safety and Training Manuals at any time are in line with the actual equipment on board and see to that the crew is familiar with the manual's content.
