Deck Hand / Research-Survey vessel

We are currently recruiting for Deckhands ready to join Research-Survey vessel
Applicants with a combination of yacht and conventional vessel experience will be preferred.
The vessel will be operated as a research vessel with yacht standard.
Embarkation beginning of next year - 2020
Salary in USD/per month worked - TBD upon interview
Required: STCW II/4 and II/5 Certificates, Offshore/research/other conventional shipping preferred

Reporting

• Chief Officer, Deck Officers and Deck Safety Officer

Qualifications

The Deck Hand shall as a minimum meet the Flag State Requirements for the position.

• A Deck Hand - AB shall have a II/4 and a II/5 Certificate of Proficiency

Responsibility

• The deckhand main duties are:
  1. Perform painting, lubrication, repairs, housekeeping and other maintenance jobs
  2. Secure vessel for sea as directed by superiors
  3. Operating tenders and zodiacs
  4. Assist with launch and recovery of submersibles and ROV's
  5. Assist in other ship operations e.g. mooring, anchoring and crane operations
  6. Support guests / media / scientists
  7. When on Bridge Watch perform duties as required in the Bridge Operations procedures and as requested from the Officer on Watch
  8. Never perform a job without presence of valid Working Permits if it is required
  9. Use Personnel Protection Equipment correctly
  10. Contribute to ensure that painting devices, power tools, safety equipment and other working equipment are correctly used and in good condition
  11. Perform other duties according to the Chief Officer's instructions, e.g. assist in cleaning of accommodation and similar tidy up and cleaning jobs.

Participate in any emergency duties according to the vessel's Muster Plan, Shipboard Contingency Plan and Shipboard Security Plan.

• The deckhand shall be familiarized with the Quality and Safety Management System and beware of all procedures and instructions related to stated responsibilities and tasks
• The deckhand has the responsibility to ensure the validity of personal certificates and qualifications according to the competence control procedures
