We are currently recruiting for 1st Officer ready to join Research-Survey vessel
Applicants must have a combination of Yacht and conventional vessel experience.
The vessel will be operated as a research vessel with yacht standard.
Embarkation beginning of next year - 2020
Salary in USD/per month worked - TBD upon interview
DP experience is essential, DP unlimited Certificate will be appreciated
Contract 8 weeks on/off - rotation
Introduction
- This job description applies to the vessel's First Officer.
Minimum qualification requirements
- The First Officer qualifications shall as a minimum be in line with the flag state requirements (Chief Officer Unlimited), but it is preferred that he has the highest COC in order to cover for the Master if needed.

Authority
- The First Officer is the master's next in command. The First Officer shall take the place of the Master if for any reason the Master is incapable.
- The First Officer is mainly working on the bridge, maintaining watches but cooperates closely with the vessel's Deck Safety Officers in administering the Deck Department.
- The First Officer is the vessel's appointed Ship Security Officer and has therefore full access to the vessel's SSP and the SSAS.
- The First Officer is appointed vessel Medical Person in Charge (MPIC) in periods where this is not delegated to the Nurse.
Responsibility
- The First Officer has the daily responsibility of the vessel's deck department where the main duties are (but not limited to):
- Together with the Deck Safety Officer ensure that all deck operations are in line with applicable statutory requirements, the company's Quality and Safety Management System and contractual requirements
- In co-operation with the Chief Engineer manage the maintenance of the deck equipment and arrangements according to the Quality and Safety Management System and corresponding Planned Maintenance System with special attention to the condition of the:
- Ballast- and freshwater tanks with related equipment and arrangements
- Mooring and anchoring arrangements
- Hull and Superstructure
- Cranes and lifting appliances
- Gangways and entering appliances
- Vessel's loading condition suitability to the upcoming voyage
- Arrange and keep proper deck watch conditions adjusted to the vessel's current operational situation
- On his watch during DP Operation, making sure that the Task Plan is being followed accordingly, coordinate with ROV, Science and Subs, and supervise DPO in critical operations.
- Prepare appropriate checklist before and after the DP Operation.
- On daily basis ensure the seaworthiness of the vessel
- Perform navigation and maneuvering of the ship according to the Bridge Operation Procedures in force.
- Keep a strict record of all liquids and solids on board which are categorized as hazardous to human health or to environment and ensure that associated Safety Data Sheets are available
- In cooperation with the nurse, keep the vessel's hospital clean and tidy and ensure that the medical locker contains the amount of medicine and medical equipment stated by applicable regulations. All supplementary and consumption of medical preparations shall be strictly logged
- On daily basis ensure that the garbage treatment on board is performed according to the Garbage Management Plan
- Ensure for the implementation and recording of the Ballast Water Management Plan and any ballasting undertaken
- On daily basis perform stated recordings in logbooks and other applicable records
- The First Officer is expected to assist the Deck Crew with any task necessary when he is not needed at the bridge.
- Prepare a proper hand-over note for the joining First Officer according to stated hand-over procedure

Participate in any emergency duties according to the vessel's Muster Plan, Shipboard Contingency Plan and Shipboard Security Plan, and assist the master in drills and emergency training of the crew.
- The First Officer shall be thoroughly familiarized with the Quality and Safety Management System and beware of all procedures and instructions related to his responsibility and tasks. He shall also be a motivator to rest of the crew.
The First Officer has the responsibility to ensure the validity of his personal certificates and qualifications according to the qualification procedure
