Director of Environmental

We are working with a leading cruise company based in the UK. They are looking for a Director Environmental Operations to join their environmental operations and compliance department.

You will be involved in ensuring full compliance of all environmental aspects for the cruise ship fleet, adhering to all rules regulations and company polices.

Responsibilities will include but not limited too;

• Provides direct support to and coordination for shipboard Environmental Compliance Officers on the daily fleet operations;
• Oversees the waste disposal program and provides support to the Port Operations department in the selection of qualified venders and facilities;
• Manages the traveling supervisory positions of the Environmental Operations and Compliance Department;
• Implements environmental policies and strategies;
• Assists with the administration of the environmental procedure their development and upkeep
• Assists in Audit Programs;
• Assists in developing and maintaining Environmental budgets for the fleet;
• Supports Technical Superintendents with development, installation, enhancement and continuing operation of environmental systems on-board to include, but not limited to, wastewater treatment, oily-water treatment, air emissions, ballast water, solid & hazardous waste and chemical usage;

Job Requirements: skills, competencies, experience

• Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of Italian and other major European languages is an advantage
• Minimum 10 years maritime experience in the fields of safety, environmental, engineering and/or regulatory affairs.
• Experience with ISM Code and Safety Management Systems. Internal auditing experience; preferably as lead auditor;
• A degree in environmental science or similar field is preferred;
• A wide knowledge of the Cruise/Maritime industry;
• Experience in the Cruise industry within an Environmental capacity.
