The Junior Nurse onboard The World primary responsibility is to support the Medical Team on board with daily administration duties as well as during clinics and with in-patient care as directed within scope of experience and competency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform ordinary medical duties within scope of experience and practice
• All admin duties related to the Medical Team and as per the job description
• Assist Senior Nurse and Doctor in all aspects of operating the Medical Center within scope and capabilities, including COVID-19 testing protocols
• Maintain, log and operate onboard testing equipment including CBC, piccolo, iSTAT and PCR analyzers
• Assist as required with monthly inventory counts, packing and unpacking of stocks, maintenance of medical storage lockers and recording of non-specialized items in AMOS as well as maintain records of COVID-19 supplies and PPE inventory with regards to physical count, dispensing and development of list for generating necessary orders
• Receive and input information from Pre-Travel and Pre-Boarding questionnaires, Vaccination Cards, Crew Pre-employment medicals and other Public Health related documents and inputs relevant test results into the SeaCare medical records system
• Assist with any special medical or crew welfare projects as requested and authorized by Ship’s Doctor

Hiring Requirements

• RN license and experience preferably in acute / critical care of patients with at least two years’ experience
• Current ACLS and PALS certification, or equivalent training and experience
• Previous experience in the maintenance and operation of medical testing equipment including CBC coulter, Picollo, iSTAT and RT-PCR analyzers preferred but not essential
• Good administration and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite of products.
• Familiarity with SeaCare medical records and AMOS inventory management systems preferred, but not essential
• Great organizational skills
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Relevant STCW2010 courses up to date
