Infectious Disease Prevention Officer (Cruise) – Worldwide

Navis Consulting are currently looking for Infectious Disease Prevention Officers for one of our prestigious cruise ship clients. As Infectious Disease Prevention Officer you would be responsible for diagnoses, laboratory confirmation, treatment, control, and description of natural history and transmission kinetics of infectious diseases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Interviews cases to establish the case history, evaluates, and monitors guest & Crew, provides education, guidance, and isolation/quarantine parameters based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for those individuals who meet the case definition for a confirmed, suspect, or probable case of a communicable disease.
  • Records, manages intake information, and establishes the description and timeline of onset of symptoms and interviews case to determine all possibly exposed individuals.
  • Explains information and recommendations regarding isolation and quarantine parameters, services available to the case, and monitors case for ongoing needs and disease clearance.
  • Helps case develop an appropriate plan which may include referral to another Hospital.
  • Maintains detailed records of cases and assembles these into periodic reports in order to determine trends (if any).
  • Supports the Public Health Department by performing COVID-19 contact tracing, to include answering telephone inquiries involved with contact tracing duties related to quarantine and monitoring of contacts

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Nurse, Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or similar role in the medical field is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical medical experience is required. Experience with infectious disease, contact-tracing, conducting infectious disease case investigations and epidemiology is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of scientific methods and principles.
  • Ability to research, investigate, and report cases of communicable disease outbreaks.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret epidemiological and statistical data pertaining to the control of communicable diseases.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in the methods of prevention and control of communicable diseases.
  • Understanding of the medical terms and principles of exposure, infection, infectious period, potentially infectious interactions, symptoms of the disease, pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic infection.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree or foreign equivalent in Public Health, Infectious Disease, Epidemiology, Biology, Microbiology, Nursing, or a related medical field is required.
  • Masters Degree in one of the above-stated fields may substitute for the work experience requirement at an equivalent rate.
