Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Control performance and maintenance on main, auxiliary engines and relative plants as per details.
  • Updating and control planned maintenance (PMS).

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Operating and maintaining Diesel Propulsion Engines, Auxiliary Diesel Engines and related auxiliary equipment and managing and planning with the Motorman daily and motorman on watch (after watch and during overtime) the maintenance of the machineries and plants as per details assigned.
  • Familiarizing with all Safety plants like Hi-Fog System, Fire System, Sprinkler, Emergency Bilge and all the other emergency plants including emergency manual operation in case of some malfunction in the automatic system.
  • Verifying, updating and planning the machineries maintenance in accordance with the work planning on INFOSHIP and Staff Chief Engineer indications. Refers to and follows the machineries operating, maintenance and instruction manuals in order to increase his/ her specific knowledge.
  • Taking care of the detail "D" assigned by Chief Engineer to his / her function. Detail is a follows (but not to be considered limited only to these machineries or plants). Referring to the detail on every single ship. Example : MM//EE, DD/GG; Clutch, Fuel oil skid MM/EE and DD/GG, Lube oil plant MM/EE and DD/GG, MM/EE water circulation plant, DD/GG water circulation plant, Emergency Generator, Tender boats, Lifeboats and rescue boats. Relevant Instrument, Control of Spare parts and inventory, SMS Documentation, etc.
  • Verifying inventory and quantity in stock before making any request of spare parts and materials in general, including to control of correct spare part / consumable requisitions before Chief Engineer endorsement.

Qualifications and competence

  • Marine Engineer studies - License as 1st Engineer on watch (III/2) or higher. No limitation for other than Ro-Ro vessel.
  • At least 1 year experience as 1st Engineer on watch on board vessel, dealing with maintenance of main propulsion engines and generators.
  • More than 4 years experience as an Engineer, of witch 2 as a Watch Team Leader.
  • CoP Designated Security Duties, STCW A-VI/6-2
  • Crowd and Crisis Management
  • CoP AFF Advanced Fire Fighting
  • CoP Medical First Aid
  • Basic Training Certificates as per STCW standard
  • Covid 19 Certificate
  • Health certificate
  • Professional skills
  • Familiar with maintenance of 4-stroke engines (Wartsila mainly).
  • Familiar with PMS software (Infoship or Amos).
  • Good knowledge of maintenance of all equipment on cruise vessels and watchkeeping duties.
  • Familiar with Italian flag requirements and Naval Classifications Registry requirements and audit.
  • Experience in dry dock operations and shipbuilding.
