SUMMARY:

  • This position is responsible to provide administrative duties to the vessel’s Safety Officer.

PREFERRED SKILS & BACKGROUND:

  • Knowledge in Marine certificates

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 yrs. experience as Safety Admin or related work

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree in Business or equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of computers, Internet access and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, Adobe Page Maker or related programs.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail while coordinating many functions simultaneously
  • Exceptional customer service skills to interact appropriately with crew in a considerate, professional and positive manner by showing concern and active listening.
  • Cooperative and flexible personality
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with department heads and crewmembers to foresee and resolve problems and negotiate resolutions
  • Marine background is a plus but not a requirement

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Safety Officer with his daily administrative needs. This includes the upkeep of maintenance, training and drill records.
  • Administrate the safety related computer based training (CBT) onboard.
  • Keep the Safety notice board updated.
  • Coordinate training sessions, send out invitations and maintain the attendance logs in Rescom.
  • Coordinate the issuing of safety training certificates.
  • Ensure that all safety training certificates are entered in the system ( Adonis, Rescom, E1), under the supervision & guidance of the safety officer.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
