Description

The Refrigeration Assistant is responsible for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems throughout the ship as directed by the Refrigeration Engineer. Promotes that all Gold Standards and Brand Culture are embraced by the team at all times, particularly when assisting guests and Ladies and Gentlemen.

Essential Duties

  1. Assists the Refrigeration Engineer in all duties, under the direction of the Refrigeration Engineer
  2. Monitors, troubleshoots and performs maintenance routines & repairs to the Direct Expansion Central Plants (Compressor packs, Cold/Freezer Rooms & Remotes)
  3. Monitors, troubleshoots and performs repairs to self-contained refrigerators, freezers, draught beer installations, air conditioning units, air purification and scent equipment around the vessel
  4. Cleans the internals of Fan Coil Units, replaces air filters, replaces fan motor bearings and performs general routine maintenance tasks contained within the Planned Maintenance Systems and under the direction of the Refrigeration Engineer
  5. Assists with Technical Department Responsibilities; Direct Expansion Hotel Equipment and Air Conditioning
  6. Ensures routine F-Gas leak detection and corrective action works
  7. Monthly weighing of all onboard refrigerant and recovery cylinders


Qualifications

  1. Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract and appropriate to position
  2. Three (3) years’ experience as an equally ranked cruise vessel Refrigeration Engineer Assistant or has been employed as a shore-based Service Manager for a minimum of one (1) year
  3. City & Guilds 2079 Category One (1) F-Gas Certification (or equivalent) preferred, if not certified candidate must gain certification within the 90-day probationary period, or before re-joining the vessel
  4. Good command of the English Language
  5. Exceptional knowledge of modern luxury shipboard equipment, systems, and operations
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
