The Commis de Cuisine is responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen. He/she ensures that all recipes, food preparations, and presentations meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality, while maintaining a safe, orderly and sanitized kitchen. He/she works under the supervision of the Sous Chef and the Executive Chef. A perfect opportunity to start up your cooking career and what best by doing it so on board a River Cruise Ship Sailing along the European Rivers.

The Company is seeking to find new talents and maintain them. As such, should you start as a Commis de Cuisine, once skills and qualifications are proven the Company will recognise it and proceed to promotions to higher positions starting from Demi Chef de Partie, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef.


The Commis reports directly to the Executive Chef or Sous Chef


Flexible to assist and/or cover for the Demi Chef de Partie, Pastry Chef or Kitchen Steward.The employee will have to be able to assist in areas outside the Galley for ship operation purposes such us loading of food and supplies


  • Preparation and distribution of daily meals in accordance with the menu cycle
  • Understanding the portion of the menu content which includes recipes and food presentation guidelines Jointly responsible for appropriate loading, storage and keeping of goods
  • Co-responsible for daily cleaning and adhering to hygiene standards
  • Ensuring that health and hygiene standards are followed


  • At least two years of hotel or prior ship experience in a comparable position
  • Basic education as a cook (Know how; filleting fish and meat)
  • English speaking skills
  • Competence in all facets of cooking
  • A flexible and motivated team player
  • Ability to work under pressure long hours and in a fast paste environment
  • willigness to go the extra mile and learn new culinary skills
  • Patience and understandable
