Line Crewing is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Receptionist to work onboard European river cruise vessels, with full onboard accommodation provided.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of all hotel departments.
  • Strong public relations skills with excellent command of English and/or German.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the hotel industry; management or administrative background is an advantage.
  • Typing proficiency.
  • Computer skills: iOS, Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, Fidelio Cruise (or similar ship management software), Stock Control System.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct trainees/interns in Front Desk operations together with the Hotel Manager.
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP standards.
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of personnel and passengers.
  • Self-starter, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and meet company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Interaction

  • Maintain a friendly and professional attitude with both passengers and crew.
  • Handle passenger inquiries, requests, and complaints efficiently.
  • Assist passengers with money exchange procedures.

Administration

  • Manage passenger check-in during embarkation and check-out during disembarkation.
  • Maintain and update the Reception logbook (crew book).
  • Monitor and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Prepare passenger financial statements when required.
  • Collect, verify, and distribute passenger travel documents.

Repairs & Communication

  • Monitor and record repairs in the Repair Logbook and Cruise Report.
  • Communicate repair needs to the Engineer, Hotel Manager, or Captain.
  • Ensure all machines and equipment function properly and report issues immediately.

Financial Management

  • Check, prepare, and close accounts during disembarkation.
  • Maintain the Cashbook according to company or Hotel Manager instructions, ensuring accurate cash flow records.

Sales & Promotions

  • Support onboard sales, including promoting the boutique and other services.

Daily Operations & Programs

  • Oversee daily programs, Crew Daily, printed menus, and coordinate menu updates with the Head Chef.
  • Coordinate with the Tour Leader or Cruise Director regarding excursions, activities, and daily programs.

Security & Safety

  • Follow vessel-specific security, fire, and safety procedures.
  • Act in the company’s best interest by minimizing costs and ensuring safety standards are upheld.

Professional Conduct

  • Ensure proper uniform and grooming standards at all times.
  • Maintain a professional and responsible demeanour while on duty.
