APT is an Australian family-owned company with 85 years experience in the Australian tourism industry. Today, the company is a global operator which offers luxury cruises and tours in Europe, Russia, North America, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, South America, Africa, China, Egypt, Australia and New Zealand. In Europe our prime product is river cruises with pre and post cruising land touring options.

Our German company is located in our office in Troisdorf (between Cologne and Bonn) where we have a small team who are responsible for all the operational aspects of our European cruising and land based touring. Due to our continued growth we are now looking to recruit additional members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the team in Cologne and Head office in Australia to deliver the APT and TM Europe brochured products to the highest quality and thereby achieving maximum possible guest satisfaction.
  • Management of day-to-day sailing schedules and shore excursions.
  • Management of supplier relationships.
  • Quality control and customer relations.
  • Assist with recruitment and training of Cruise Directors.
  • Assist with reconciling of accounts for shore excursions and Cruise Directors.
  • Crisis Management: direct APT crew/staff, address passengers, emergency services, media (training will be given).
  • Work with Director of Operations to alter sailing schedules/excursions as necessary.
  • To work a minimum of 2 cruises per season as a Cruise Director.

Competencies Required

  • At least 2 years on ship cruise experience, river or sea going.
  • A strong commonsense approach to problem solving and the ability to handle difficult issues when these arise.
  • Strong time management, admin and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to work flexibly, autonomously and under pressure.
  • Fluent in English, other European languages useful but not essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of European River itineraries.
  • The role is office based but will require the ability to travel throughout Europe (sometimes at short notice) to assist our CDs and passengers.
  • All permits/paperwork necessary to work in the E.U.
