Key Responsibilities

As a Sr Hotel Storekeeper, you play a critical role in ensuring that all hotel operations onboard run smoothly by safeguarding the integrity, availability, and accurate control of all hotel consumables. You lead by example in maintaining high standards of inventory discipline, safety, and compliance while supporting exceptional guest and teammate experiences.

  • Lead and oversee all inventory control activities for hotel stores, including food & beverage, housekeeping, and hotel consumables, ensuring stock levels are accurate, optimized, and aligned with operational requirements and budget targets.
  • Supervise the receiving process for all hotel deliveries, verifying quantities, product quality, and documentation against purchase orders, and promptly escalating and resolving any discrepancies or damages with provisioning and procurement teams.
  • Ensure all inventory is stored, organized, and rotated in line with FIFO principles, maintaining clear labeling, segregation, and cleanliness in all storage areas in full compliance with HACCP, public health, and company sanitation standards.
  • Coordinate and control the timely distribution of goods to all onboard hotel departments, ensuring requisitions are properly authorized, accurately fulfilled, and recorded in the inventory management system to maintain full traceability.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in regular cycle counts and monthly/quarterly stocktakes, analyzing variances, identifying root causes of discrepancies, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize loss, waste, and shrinkage.
  • Monitor consumption trends, shelf life, and stock turnover, providing proactive reporting and recommendations to hotel and F&B leadership to prevent shortages or overstock, support accurate forecasting, and reduce waste.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory records within the company’s inventory systems, ensuring timely data entry, reconciliation, and reporting in line with internal control, audit, and financial requirements.
  • Uphold all safety, environmental, and security procedures in hotel storerooms, including proper handling of hazardous items, temperature control, and safe lifting and storage practices, ensuring readiness for internal and external inspections.
  • Train, mentor, and support junior storekeeping and utility teammates in inventory procedures, safe handling, and hygiene standards, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with hotel operations, galley, beverage, and purchasing teams to anticipate operational needs, support special events or itinerary changes, and ensure uninterrupted supply to all guest-facing areas.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in storekeeping, inventory control, logistics, or supply chain operations, ideally within the hospitality, cruise, or large-scale catering industry.
  • Hands-on experience working with computerized inventory management systems and digital tracking tools, with the ability to input, reconcile, and analyze data to support accurate stock control and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of stock rotation principles (including FIFO), storage best practices, and product shelf-life management for food, beverage, and hotel consumables.
  • Solid knowledge of public health, hygiene, and food safety regulations (such as HACCP), with a proven ability to apply these standards in daily operations and during inspections or audits.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy, with a track record of minimizing discrepancies, preventing loss or shrinkage, and maintaining organized, audit-ready records.
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic shipboard environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including supervising, coaching, and motivating junior storekeeping or utility teammates in safe, efficient, and compliant work practices.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken), enabling clear interaction with multicultural teams, accurate documentation, and effective coordination across departments.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural team, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
  • Previous shipboard experience in a similar inventory, provisioning, or logistics role is highly preferred, with familiarity of maritime operations, safety procedures, and life at sea.
  • Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and safely lifting, moving, and organizing stock in line with company safety guidelines.
