Shore Excursion Staff – Cruise ship

You as part of the AMAZING Shore Excursion Team are responsible for promoting, explaining and selling shore excursion tours and packages to onboard guests for the 3rd largest revenue centre onboard.

Responsibilities:

• Assists guests with tour descriptions to promote and sell tours based on needs and cross-sells or up sells tour packages while achieving revenue goals.
• Executes tactical plan as instructed by Assistant Shore Excursion Manager to achieve financial targets.
• Understands the financials behind the business, gross vs. net.
• Demonstrates a clear understanding of “Tour Mapping” and the process by which we sell tours.
• Provides guest service with regards to tour sales, refunds, complaints and general port and ship information.
• Ensures the effective marketing execution and selling of all revenue opportunities including but not limited to maintaining shipboard shore excursion video(s).
• Develops and communicates new ideas for revenue and operational efficiencies to the Assistant Shore Excursions Manager.
• Maintains the Advanced Shipboard Revenue (ASR) system and operates point of sales (POS) computer terminals.
• Stays “above the line” and accepts ownership for achieving results in all areas of accountability including SGI, ratings, revenue, Workplace Safety.
• Is a role model for others and serves as a positive ambassador of the cruise line.
• Resolves conflict with fact-based communication.
• Fosters team unity and inspires commitment to the cruise line.
• Collaborates well and works up, down and across the organization.
• Assists in training of all crew, including new hires.
• Coaches and mentors potential future members of the Shore Ex team
• Guest facing communication is professional, on brand and visually appealing. (desk, pier, and dispatch)
• Exhibits professional presence, positive energy and passion in all situations.
• Brings out the best in his/her team through authenticity, care and humility.

Requirements:

• Minimum of two (2) years shipboard experience in a guest relations capacity.
• In addition to English, able to speak 2 of the following languages is required; Italian, Spanish, French, and German.
• Knowledge of ports, tours, and itineraries – Caribbean, Europe, Baltic, South America, Australia, Asia, Mediterranean, and Alaska. (preferred)
• Sales background (preferred)
• Strong communication, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer Service and guest Resolution skills required.
• Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, or related programs.
