Your Purpose
The 1st Officer is in charge of ship navigation. He/she must ensure a safety conduction of Navigation and Maneuverings Operations during a watch.Your Impact
Bridge Watch Keeper as required by the BRM Procedures working on 1st watch 04-08 and 16-20.
The 1st Officer is the “Bridge Manager”.
Ensure that the Bridge Standards and Watchkeeping procedures are followed, reporting any deficiencies to the Staff Captain but directly to the Master for anything related to Watchkeeping, BRM, stability, seaworthiness of the ship.
Organize Monthly Nautical and Voyage Overview meetings in cooperation with the 2nd Officers watch leaders
Responsible, during his/her watch, for the execution and monitoring of the voyage plan according to the BRM Procedures.
Responsible and Supervises for training purposes only the Charts (ENC) and Publications correction and upkeeping
Ensures that the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are duly applied and followed in cooperation with ECO
Maintenance and Tests as per PMS assigned Job Cards (Bridge Manager) on infoship ( PMS TO BE ALLIGNED WITH JDs SUCH AS TANK MAINTENACE, BRIDGE INSTRUMENT )
He/she is responsible for the familiarization and the Ship's Maneuver characteristics for the deck officer assigned to her\his watch.
Supervises the Stability condition during his/her watch and notify the Stability officer (Staff Captain) and the Master in case of any issue.
Ensuring that all Deck Officer are familiar with the use of the ship's stability calculation computer program (onboard NAPA).
Organize and plan in cooperation with the Staff Captain(Ship’s stability officer) ballast management, fresh water supply etc. and bunkering in cooperation with Chief Engineer
The Bridge Manager shall ensure a Cadet Training Program is established to enhance and support cadet learning.
Your Journey So Far
• Fluent English, oral and written. Any additional language is considered an advantage.
• Certificate of Competency IMO STCW Cap II/2.
• Satisfy the requirements of the laws of the Flag State of the ship regarding health and physical requirements.
• Extensive Successful Experience in a similar position with another Cruise Line;• Basic Windows based programs knowledge.
• Sound supervisory skills.
• Substantial interpersonal, oral, written communication and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to work in a harmonious productive team environment, exercising authority, diplomacy, and impartiality.
• A recognised medical certification is required before starting to work onboard.
