Asst. Hotel Engineer

Your Purpose

Assist the Hotel Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of technical equipment inside and outside the Engine room and specifically within the Hotel Department. Safely and professionally execute all duties associated with the operation of the engine department and the maintenance of the technical equipment inside and outside the engine room, and specifically associated with the Hotel Dept. To follow Company policy regarding the ship's safety, pollution and safety rules for crew and passengers.

Your Impact

• By mutual arrangement with the Staff Engineer, to be on board the vessel at any time the Hotel Engineer is absent from the ship.

• Daily consult with the Hotel Engineer concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the technical equipment inside and outside the engine room, and specifically within the Hotel Department.

• Assign maintenance and repair duties to his dependent personnel and actively supervise in any overhaul and repair work.

• Inspect all assigned work in progress, and on completion, assure that manpower is used in the most possible effective way, that work is executed properly in accordance with acceptable standards and that no wastage of materials occurs.

• During their watch must control the proper disposals of all refuse, rags etc. to avoid fire and other hazards during and after work.

• To train personnel assigned to his engine watch (particularly new personnel) to follow safe working practices, ensuring that functions are fully recognized by each man and that work done and the manner of performance conforms to established standards.

• To attend when invited by the Master and when duty permits all cocktail parties and social and entertaining activities and functions.

Your Journey So Far

High School Graduate with appropriate licenses as required by company. Extensive successful experience in a similar position within MSC or other Cruise company. All other certification (including visas etc.) required including Compliance with the requirements of STCW regarding certification for this position and all documents in force at the time of his/her employment to comply with the Flag State requirements of the ship to which he/she is assigned. Proven ability to work in a harmonious productive team environment. Above average supervisory skills and demonstrated diplomatic crisis and problem handling. Computer literacy and ability to operate office equipment. Basic Windows based programs knowledge.

• Fluent in oral and written English (working and Safety language of the Company) Explora Fleet English Level: B2.

• Ability to speak, read and write in Italian is a major benefit and may be a requirement.

• Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages is considered a major advantage that could eventually influence the selection for some positions.
