Your Purpose
Learning and Development Manager acts as a Learning and Host Lifestyle gatekeeper to the Ship and its leaders. As part of People Department, the Learning and Development Manager does not belong to any of the three divisions (Hotel, Deck and Engine).
Your Impact
Follows high-standard service culture set for People Department.
• Provides support to the People Team when possible.
• Facilitates shipboard Learning initiatives. Coordinates with departmental trainers for Position Based Training completion.
• Provides general Learning and Development advice to all Hosts, regardless of their rank.
• Conducts Company Trainings on regular basis to always ensure minimal pending numbers.
• Conducts Company Trainings by following the facilitator manual and is required to use various training techniques to ensure knowledge transfer.
• Ensures Hosts attend Learning functions as scheduled; reports any non-compliance and keeps a track of the frequency.
• Manages Host Lifestyle Program together with hosting departments. Schedules and facilitates all Host Lifestyle related meetings. Participates in Host Activities as much as possible and assists as necessary.
• Assists People Director with Host Excellence Award and #OSOM Programs if needed.
• Manages the Service Award Program.
• Manages Host Lifestyle Inventory and loans out equipment to Hosts by signing Resources on loan agreement.
• Makes suggestions on improving offered inventory during Host Lifestyle Meetings. Initiates purchases as needed or refers to People Director for assistance.
• Conducts regular spot checks to ensure that food in the Host Dining Venue is up to standard and menu on rotation is being followed.
• Attends all required meetings and trainings as necessary.
• Supports People Director in communicating company initiatives and strategic objectives of Explora Journeys to all Hosts onboard by designing communication notices and displaying those as needed.
Your Journey So Far
A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a LandD Manager or People/HR Manager.
• Previous experience onboard international cruise ships.
• Extensive experience with diverse Luxury/Premium hospitality.
• Previous experience in Start-Ups/Pre-openings is an advantage.
• Proficient in Computers. Knowledge of Microsoft programs to include but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Proficient in English. Any additional European language is considered an advantage (Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish and French).
