Your Purpose

The 2nd Officer is in charge of ship navigation. He/she must ensure a safety conduction of Navigation and Maneuverings Operations during a watch.

Your Impact

 Bridge Watch Keeper as required by the BRM Procedures

 Responsible to the Bridge manager for the execution and monitoring of the voyage plan according to the V.P. Procedures. Ensure all ENC and all Publications are corrected and updated as required under the supervision of the Bridge manager

 Maintenance and Tests for the Bridge instruments, Including GMDSS, Iridium, and other communications equipment.

 Maneuver characteristics knowledge for junior the deck officers assigned to his\her watch.

 Update the Bridge deficiencies report under the supervision of the Bridge Manager.

 Ensures that the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are duly applied and followed.

 In charge of the daily Ship’s Stability Calculation, including freshwater and ballast management control plan during their watch

 Ensuring that the Deck Officer assigned to his/her watch is familiar with the use of the ship's stability calculation computer program (onboard NAPA).

 Assist the Safety Officer and the Training officer in the conduct of crew Safety Drills, when needed.

 Assist the Safety Officer and the Training Officer with the Vessel

 Maintain pyrotechnics, signaling equipment and appliances.

 Responsible of Passage planning for all journeys to be cross checked and validated by the master

 Responsible of the ECDIS Familiarization for Deck Officers.

 Maintain the vessel’s flag inventory.

 Assist the Staff Captain and the Safety Officer concerning emergency drills for guest and crew\hosts as needed.

 Cooperate with the Safety Officer in applying instruction and training programs to hosts\crew, including but not limited to all Safety Drills as needed.

 Monitoring correct functioning of the electronic instruments and navigational equipment, in cooperation with the Shipboard Technical Department.

 All assigned duties by Master\Staff Captain

IMO Certificate – Chief Mate on ships of 3,000 Gross Tonnage or More

 Flag state IMO endorsement of recognition.

 Valid GMDSS Certificate and Flag State endorsement

 ECDIS-Courses and Certification

 Flag state GMDSS endorsement of recognition.

 Survival Craft Operator Certificate.

 Current and valid Crowd Management Certificate.

 Current and valid Crisis Management and Human Behavior Certificate.

Your Essentials

Full compliance with the requirement of the Law Flag State of the ship regarding Safety and health and physical requirements.Documentation according with STCW
