Role Overview
The Light Technician (LGHT) is responsible for the programming, safe operation, and maintenance of all lighting, show control, and haze/fog systems across various entertainment venues. This includes supporting a range of produced entertainment, events, and activities.
Qualifications
- Completion of high school or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Technical Theater, Sound, Lights, or A/V preferred.
- Background in stage, technical theater, and production (electrical, technical, lighting, or sound) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with programming and operating lighting for live performances.
- Experience with regular maintenance and upkeep of conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures.
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with musical theater and show control systems preferred.
- Proficient in operating lighting control consoles and related software/programs.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining:
- Conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures
- DMX-controlled scrollers
- ETC Sensor dimming systems
- Follow spotlights
- Haze/fog systems
- Lighting control consoles
- Strong teamwork skills; must work effectively with technical teams and performing artists.
- Solid understanding of computer networking preferred.
- Familiarity with entertainment technology software applications.
- Ability to analyze and determine technical support needs.
- Commitment to staying updated on advancements in the entertainment industry.
