POSITION SUMMARY
Pool Monitor is responsible for guest safety in Pool and Solarium and all tasks assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor the pool deck/solarium and ensure that any water spills are immediately reported and taken care of by the pool attendants’ team. Report on any maintenance and safety features repairs that are needed, on daily basics. Monitor activities around the pool deck and advise parents/guardians to stay close to their minors when in the pool. Advise guests that no glass bottles/items are allowed in the pool/jacuzzi areas. Assisting pool team on setting up the pool deck/solarium before events/activities as well as daily set up/break down.

Reports to their workstation assignment on time and properly groomed and dressed according to standards. This includes a clean uniform, name tag, and any other uniform related item (belt, hat, etc.).

Pool deck monitor will report safety hazards and any safety observations to the pool supervisor and safety investigation officer.

Ensure that all guests adhere to the pool rules to prevent injuries and other accidents.

Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards.

When pool is busy the main priority for the pool monitor will be the pool area – NOT cleaning or any other tasks.

For breaks (lunch/dinner) Pool attendants will replace the pool deck monitor. Pool attendants will be able to replace the pool deck monitor when weather conditions are harder to stand in the same spot for a prolonged period, to relieve the pool, monitor to refresh, pool attendant will replace him. At that time, the pool deck monitor will assist with other work.

Greet and welcome all guests going to the pool area according to Celebrity Cruises standards of service and style.

Observes the guests in the pool area to ensure pool and general safety regulations are followed.

Respond to any type of emergency by dialing the ship’s emergency number.

Maintain open and effective communication with other crewmembers working on the pool deck (Deck Department, Restaurant, Bar Department, Galley, etc.) to ensure total guest satisfaction.

Perform a variety of duties when the pool area is closed within the Housekeeping Operation. Individuals will assist with all service of warm/cold towels by the gangway when applicable.

Clean, maintain, and replenish towels on open deck areas/pool areas.

Notifies management of the malfunction/maintenance issues.

Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in good working order. Report directly to management when equipment is malfunctioning.

Maintain current knowledge of the ship’s regular events and special functions by reviewing all available data, (daily programmer, etc.), to provide guests with accurate information.

Aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation, to assist guests and crew members with inquiries.

Attend meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.
Embarkation day:
- Pool deck monitor schedule needs to be adjusted based on the Embarkation Day needs and events schedule. May be called to assist when pool arrangements are being made.
- Pool deck monitor will NOT assist with loading of luggage on embarkation day. However, pool deck monitor will assist with luggage debark operation on the night before embarkation day. Any assignments that are related to the pool, the pool monitor may be assigned to assist.
Sea Day:
- Pool deck monitor with be scheduled according to the busy hours of the pool. Schedule will vary based on pool volume.
Port Day:
- Pool deck monitor with be scheduled according to the busy hours of the pool. Schedule will vary based on pool volume.
- Pool deck monitor to be included in the Pool team schedule and needs to have at least one day with 6 hours off on a 7-day voyage.
- Any additional tasks/duties safety related, and injury prevention can be assigned to the Pool deck monitor by the Housekeeping Director, Safety Investigation Officer or Safety Officer.
