Your Purpose

Music takes centre stage in our entertainment program and differentiates us from the rest. Our onboard Musician will enhance our guests’ journey by delivering the best possible standard and wide array of musical experiences while creating a transformative luxury ocean travel experience for our guests.

Your Impact

• Deliver an exceptional music program designed to help guests reach the Ocean State of Mind.

• The ability to play the instrument of choice in a range of genres and styles, including but not limited to Pop, Rock, Country, RandB, Jazz, Soul, Swing, Classical and Orchestral.

• Musician should have their own repertoire they may use in live performances; this repertoire could include well-known songs or original compositions.

• Perform up to five performance sets each day.

• Perform in any musical combination as set by the Entertainment Manager or Lead Resident Artiste. E.g., as a two-piece, quartet etc. A willingness for and ability for collaboration is key.

• Attend rehearsals/practice as scheduled by Lead Resident Artiste.

• Where applicable, the Artiste will have the opportunity to showcase personal and original musical compositions onboard. Possibilities include, but are not limited to, an evening featuring personal works, or an enrichment conversation on arrangements, personal experiences, and training.

• The ability to perform Explora Journeys Entertainment Experiences as scheduled. Be in position for scheduled experiences / events at least 15 minutes before the designated start time.

• Be prepared to perform curated experiences at all times, days, onboard, in-ports and where appropriate ashore.

• If requested, organise, and conduct music lessons / experiences in collaboration with other team members.

• Participate in music related activities and rituals as required.

• Perform in a variety of entertainment music events e.g., musical quizzes, live karaoke etc., in collaboration with other team members.

• Take care of musical instruments, whether they are personal or company property, ensuring all said equipment is safely removed, covered, or otherwise protected at the end of all performances or activities using this equipment.

• Ensure personal equipment issued on board, such as iPads, for storing and filing documents is well maintained.

• Must be willing to authentically engage with and assist guests, while being a genuine brand ambassador for Explora Journeys throughout the Journey.

• Promote all entertainment activities, events and rituals.

• Document comments and complaints reported by the guests in cooperation with the Guest Services Department.

• Ensure delivered content is professional, non-offensive to the audience and in line with the Explora Journeys brand standards.

• Have an active role and assist in Departmental Host Events, this could be on a weekly, monthly, or as required basis.

Your Journey So Far

• Capable of playing the selected instrument with excellent skill in a range of genres and styles.

• Strong music sight reading ability.

• Comfortable playing in different band setups e.g. two piece, Quartet etc.

• Technically proficient and able to use a variety of appropriate musical equipment.

• Proficiency in performing live with click track technology

• Knowledge of similar competitive products in the cruise and luxury resort Industry is considered an advantage.

• Physically and medically fit as per Explora Journeys Company policy.

• Computer literacy required. Basic Windows based programs knowledge.

• Proficient in English. Additional European languages are advantageous.

Your Essentials

• Passport, visas, certificates as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and entry into the destination cruising area.
