Your Purpose

An exciting opportunity exists for a world class Deck Cadet to join our newly created luxury travel brand “Explora Journeys” and start his/her career by building up experience in the Deck department. He/She will be assisting the ship Deck Officers in their duties.

Your Impact

Assisting watch leaders and as prescribed by Staff Captain or Master for ancillary duties .

• The Bridge Manager shall ensure a Cadet Training Program is established to enhance and support cadet learning. When more than one cadet is on board are to be assigned to senior deck Officers and rotated periodically, to gain a comprehensive understanding of each Officer’s duties and responsibilities.  The cadet assigned to 1st watch shall assist with arrival/ departure preparations and may cover the Administrator role during maneuvers under supervision of the qualified officer.
• The cadet assigned to 2nd watch shall assist with voyage planning, preparation of voyage reports, noon reports, and sunrise/set tables under supervision of the qualified officer.
•  The cadet assigned to 3rd watch shall assist with fire risk assessments and inspection/testing of FRA and GMDSS detection equipment under supervision of the qualified officer.
• The cadet assigned to the Safety\Training Officers for daily duties shall learn the on-board safety procedures, assist in safety training for crew\hosts and assist with conducting safety rounds during crew\host and guests’ drills.
• The cadet assigned to the Staff Captain’s office shall learn the application of the ISPS code, Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), and aspects of crew management including crew disciplinary actions when possible.
• The cadet assigned to the Environmental Compliance Officer shall learn the application of Marpol and waste management processes on board.
