Head Deck Steward

Your Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Head Deck Steward is to ensure that on all pool areas onboard is provided an excellent guest experience and ensure the smooth operations in line with Explora Journeys policies/procedures. As well as overseeing and guiding the activities of the Deck Stewards in close collaboration with the Assistant Beverage Manager or Senior Bartender. This will ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.

Your Impact

• Supervision of the Pool areas and ensure that all standards are met as per the Bar operations manual.

• Conduct daily briefings with the staff assigned to the pool areas ensuring service standards always meet company expectation.

• Coordinate with the Assistant Beverage Manager and Senior Bartender the daily schedule and coordinate for additional assistance.

• Maintaining supply of clean towels in all pool areas - ensures an adequate number of fresh towels is always available.

• Works directly with the Deck Steward team using a hands-on approach.

• Ensures compliance with the company alcohol policy.

• Possesses full knowledge of Public Health rules and regulations and always maintains high standards.

• Correctly apply the food safety procedures and food quality requirements related to all processes.

• Works closely with the Beverage management to ensure that all Host follows the service culture and standards of Explora Journeys.

Your Journey So Far

• Previous experience in a similar position in an International Cruise Company, or in a busy 5-star hotel/resort with an international bar list.

• Previous experience in a similar position in Luxury/Premium hospitality (hotel/resort or cruise line).

• Basic knowledge on food safety.

• Communicates effectively with the senior management.

• Possesses ability to lead and make decisions. Experienced in coaching subordinates.

• Must be cost and quality conscious.

• Sticks to specific scheduled working hours yet is flexible if circumstances require it.

• Ability to swim

• Proficiency in Computers. Microsoft programs including but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel. Sound knowledge of accounting and computerized dining systems/software.

• Fluent in written and spoken English. Any additional European language is considered an advantage.

Your Essentials

• Passport, visas, certificates as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and entry into the destination cruising area.

• Food Safety/HACCP certificate.
