Your Purpose

Assists Engine Department personnel with maintenance and repairs, specifically welding.

Your Impact

• Consult daily with the Staff Engineer and 1° Engineer Officer concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the department.

• Cooperate with Engine Department personnel in the maintenance and repair of all machinery.

• Prepare requisitions for Engine department stores and consumable and submit them to the Staff Engineer for approval. He shall maintain an inventory of materials on hand and on order.

• Maintain an inventory of all materials on hand and on order; ensure that are properly preserved, stowed and secured to avoid loss from damage or deterioration.

• Maintain control over issuance and use of materials to prevent wastage.

• Work always in accordance with acceptable standards, avoiding wastage of materials, and always respecting all injury prevention rules.

Your Journey So Far

Minimum two years of shipboard experience as a welder, fitter or engine repairman within MSC or other Cruise company, Welding certificate is a plus.Secondary School Graduate with appropriate licenses as required by the company.Fully conversant with instructions and policies as specified in Chapter 26 of the MSC Fleet regulations relating to the position of Chief Engineer and all personnel in this department.Basic knowhow in International sanitation requirements and protocols (Including Explora Journeys Sanitation Standards)Satisfy the requirements of the laws of the Flag State of the Ship regarding health and physical requirements.Fluent English, oral and written (working and Safety language of the Company).Any additional languages, particularly European languages, is considered an advantage.Explora Fleet English Level: B1
