**THIS POSITION IS ONBOARD**

The Sound Technician (SOUN) is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all sound systems in the various entertainment venues for a variety of produced entertainment, events and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to Stage Production Manager(s) and follows daily/weekly schedules set by the Head Sound & Light Technician.
  • Oversees safe operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of all shipboard sound systems.
  • Supports setup and breakdown of sound equipment for shows, events, and guest activities across venues.
  • Collaborates with performers and guests to plan sound requirements and update show files.
  • Maintains original technical and artistic integrity of productions; changes require formal approval.
  • Performs routine maintenance (e.g., speaker checks, cleaning, inventory control, and equipment repairs) and completes work orders.
  • Conducts daily inspections to ensure proper equipment conditions, cleanliness, ventilation, and no technical hazards.
  • Keeps accurate records, backups, inventory logs, and ensures proper labeling, documentation, and secure password storage.
  • Provides training to technical staff and ensures compliance with company policies, communication standards, and operational procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required.
  • Bachelors or Associates in Technical Theater, Sound, Lights, A/V preferred.
  • Background in stage, technical theatre and production (i.e. electrical, technical, light and sound) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with hands-on programming and live FOH mixing, as well as regular maintenance and upkeep on a range of audio equipment.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information to subordinates and colleagues.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
