Fun Fit Host (Fitness Instructor) - Marella Cruises

Led by the Senior Entertainment Host and reporting to the Assistant Cruise Director, the Activity Hosts will assist the Cruise Director in delivering a fun, modern and varied entertainment and activity programme onboard a specified Marella Cruise Ship. The department consists of a team of Entertainment Hosts, FunFit Hosts, Acitivity Hosts, Production Cast Members, a Technical Manager and team of Technicians, a Children’s Host Team, as well as a Musical Director and team of Resident Musicians.

In addition to all resident Crew/Officers within the Entertainment Department, fly on/off Guest Entertainers will also join the department’s complement each week.

A Fun Fit Host requires 3 qualifications to be able to deliver a full FunFit programme: Exercise to Music Award, Aqua Award, and Zumba Instructor Award. Content is created by the host to provide a 2-week programme to be able to achieve the following:
• Exciting exercise classes that can be themed.
• A range of classes that can be accessed by all different demographics.
• Engagement from onlookers by making a session fun to watch.

Host’s must maintain constant vigilance and supervision of activities and events, ensuring the safety of all guests. Working conditions include prolonged standing and walking in an outdoor environment, exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and direct
sunlight.
As well as providing daily fitness activities, as a member of the Entertainment Team, you will be hosting/leading/participating in events and activities such as quizzes, staged-challenges, sports competitions, poolside events, karaoke, demonstrations, sail away and deck parties, and you must make your presence known to the guests as much as possible. Daily PR and social networking around the ship, alongside the hosting of events must be undertaken in order to maximise the Entertainment Team’s profile.

Supporting other departments with revenue generation, assisted by the daily programme and regular advertising is also a vital part of your role.
As a member of the Entertainment Department, a position of responsibility will be held with regards to emergency procedures, guest mustering and drills; specific training will be received regarding this, both prior to joining and regularly onboard.

Experience & Skill Set

At least one year’s experience in working with diverse and varied entertainment programmes, within a ‘family audience’ cruise ship, holiday
park, resort or hotel environment.

Professional microphone/hosting experience.

A basic knowledge of party dance routines. Experience in other dance styles (ie; Line Dancing, Salsa, Ballroom, Latin, Sequence) would also be beneficial, though not essential.

Experience of revenue promotion through an entertainment product.
