**THIS POSITION IS ONBOARD**
Summary: The Aquatic Stage Staff (STAA) is responsible for all the duties and responsibilities that are outlined in the Technical Stage Staff (STAT) Job Description. Moreover, the STAA is not only responsible for assisting with dive shows and underwater activities in the Aqua Theater, as requested by the Aqua Cast Support Divers, Entertainment Rigging Specialists and/or the Aqua Theater Stage Production Manager, but also acts as a safety diver in the unlikely event of an Aqua Show related emergency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
All duties must comply with Royal Caribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM, USPH, and all environmental and safety policies. Employees may work across multiple venues onboard and must maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times.
1. Reporting
- Reports to the Stage Production Manager.
- Directly supervised by the Head Stage Staff, who assigns daily duties.
2. Aqua Show Duties
- Acts as a safety diver and communication link during emergencies.
- Assists with setup, operation, and strike of Aqua Theater shows.
- Assembles, maintains, and reports issues with SCUBA equipment.
- Performs underwater duties (air support, rigging, prop movement, communication).
- Participates in rescue training.
3. Maintenance
- Helps maintain props and set pieces as designed.
- Assists with underwater inspections and reports issues.
- Ensures all equipment is secured to prevent damage.
4. Administration
- Attends required meetings.
- Maintains and submits accurate track sheets.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years’ experience with the assembly and disassembly of stage equipment and props.
- Background in stage, technical theater and/or production.
- Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) full contract served as Technical Stage Staff.
- Completion of the PADI open water diver certification or better.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Must have the ability to solely move heavy sets and/or props underwater.
• Ability to perform minor theatrical repair work (i.e. carpentry and painting).
• Keep up to date with advancements in the entertainment industry.
Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working in a 4/5* Hotel or Upscale Restaurant.
