This course should be undertaken every five years, to keep the MCA Proficiency in Medical Care in-date. The course usually runs over three days, but can be extended to four days depending on the requirements of the crew.

The course includes revisiting some theoretical aspects of human anatomy and physiology, but there is a strong emphasis on revising practical skills, and the treatment of specific medical illnesses covered in the MCA Medical Care Course.
