D2 - Basic safety on board / hazards on board, After successfully completing the course, candidates will be qualified to:

• Survival at sea in the event of abandonment
• Reducing fire risk
• Instantly apply first aid in case of an accident
• Adherence to emergency procedures
• Apply and execute safe work practices and communicate effectively with others.

Course content:

• STCW VI / I-I Personal Survival Techniques
• STCW VI / I-2 fire protection
• Basic First Aid STCW VI / I-3
• Personal safety and social responsibility STCW VI / I-4

Our basic safety course is based on a series of hands-on demonstration exercises on board, fire pit and pool:

• Lowering and driving the lifeboat
• Use of thermal suits and life jackets
• Opening a life raft
• Fire drills on the training ground

The exam is organized on the first Wednesday of the week after completion of the course.

Enrollment conditions:

• Identity card or passport
• 1 color image

This course is intended for all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship. Certificate shall be valid for a period of five years from the date of issue. Any person who has reached the age of 16 can attend it and take the exam.

Remark:

D2 certificate is a mandatory prerequisite for the issuance of a seaman's book (Matriculation) with a valid medical certificate issued by an authorized medical institution.

After successfully completing the course and examinations at the Harbor Master's Office, candidates will receive a Certificate of Basic Security on board issued by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia.
