Ship Security Specialist - P&O Cruises Australia

P&O Cruises Australia Ccurrently recruiting Ship Security Specialist to join us onboard. This position is directly involved in all aspects of security and safety of the passengers, crewmembers, visitors and ships property. Assists Security Supervisor in preventing and resolving all security issues with law enforcement authority.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To provide quick security response, with law enforcement authority, for safety and security concerns onboard P&O Cruises Ship’s
• Responsible for enforcement duties for the protection, safety and welfare of passengers, employees and visitors, and all property owned or leased by P&O Cruises
• Enforce policies, provide service, information and aid to all personnel as circumstances require, prevent crime, suppress disturbances, investigate criminal offences, and arrest offenders
• Exercise independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law and applicable rules and regulations
• Supervise those junior in rank
• Respond to panic alarms
• Prepare reports documenting investigation activities and results
• Executes passenger/crew and visitor control at the gangway during port operations
• Executes supply and service point access control
• Conducts disembarking/embarking crew baggage screening
• Perform security patrols in accordance with ships standard operating procedures
• Conducts searches of passengers/crew, visitors and all carry on items for unauthorized/prohibited items, by use of either physical search when required or by means of use of security equipment provided (X-Ray – Walkthrough Metal Detector – Hand Held Metal and Gas Explosive Detectors)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of two years of prior full-time police or community patrol/security experience (not including academy, field training or other practical training experience) with either a municipal, county, state or fully licensed private agency
• Be able to perform the full range of security/police related duties; possess strong interpersonal skills; be physically fit and able to meet company’s fitness standards
• Be able to perform all patrol activities upon completion of training
• Possess basic computer skills, have excellent written and verbal communication
• Able to obtain STCW Basic Safety and STCW DSD
• Valid passport for 6 months
• Medical ENG1, AMSA or New Zealand Maritime medical
• Police check prior to each contract
