Job Summary:

Responsible to create an authenticDutch Café experienceon board our HAL ships. Responsible for providing courteous and professional service to our guests and fellow team members while striving to meet and exceed our revenue goals. Responsible foroverseeing the entirety of yourassigned beverage outlet. Responsible for preparing quality food and beverageaccording to standard recipes and promptly servingall products withafriendly, individualized experience foreach guest.Responsible for educating external and internal guests about our premium beverages and retail offerings. Be willing to go the extra mile to assist guests and team members and recognize that every interaction is important, no matter how big or small.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provides quality beveragesand food products consistently and efficiently for all guests by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines in the workplace for allproduct and amenities.
• Acts with integrity, honesty and ethics that promote the culture, values and missionof Holland AmericaLine.
• Follows Holland America Line operational policies and procedures, including those for inventory handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all guests, officers and crew.
• Anticipates guests’ needs by constantly evaluating environment and guests forcues.
• Delivers excellent guest service to all guests by acting with a ‘guest comes first’ attitude and connecting with the guest.
• Educates guests by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs etc.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Assists with new teammate training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
• Maintains a calm demeanor duringperiods of high volume or unusual events to keep operating area to Holland America Line’s standard.
• Responsible for ensuring that company standards of service for beverages other than tea and coffee are being followed and that the standard drink recipes, including proper garnishes, are adhered to.
• Helps to resolve in a satisfactory and proactive manner all service and product deficiencies and follows up on guest comments and/or concerns.
• Communicates information to the supervisor,so that the team can respond as necessary to create the most efficient service possible.
• Maintains a clean and organized workspace at all times.oMaintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Basic Product Knowledge of Dutch Beers, Spirits, Coffees, Teas and Snacks offered.
• Promotes onboard specialty restaurants, entertainment shows, ports of call or any other onboard events as appropriate.oMust promote the venue specialty items and merchandise.
• Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-relatedactivities as required.
• Performs related duties as required.

Hiring Criteria:

• Ability to speak and read English -analyze and interpret procedure manuals and memos, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Previous work experience in authentic Dutch Food and Beverage venues preferred.
• Basic knowledge of beverages such as coffee and teas.
• Basic knowledge of varying brands and quality of liquors.
• Handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Physically fit and able to lift more than 20kg.
• Ability to read, interpret and demonstrate the preparation of recipes, basic mixology experience.
• Ability to investigate and solve passengers complains, follows up and meet/exceed guest expectations.
• Basic knowledge of beverage handling procedures with regard to public health standards.
• Ability to train and guide assigned waiting staff.oWork successfully as part of the team, while under pressure.
• Excellent appearance, self-starter.
• Maintain a positive morale and professional attitude.
• Revenue and guestsatisfaction focused.
• Ability to handle food and hot beverages.
• Basic understanding of all technical machines used within the beverage department such as draft beer machine, coffee machine, etc.
• Excellent open communication style with all levels of employees.
• Willing to work on weekends, holidays, and seven days a week and as business requires.
• Process information/ merchandise through POS register system.
• Certified in Responsible Alcohol Service (HAL University) prior boarding.
