Job Responsibilities:
- Performs internal onboard audits in relation to cash controls and Hotel Policies & Procedures in accordance with Company standards.
- Audits all End of Day and End of Cruise balance sheets and reports for accuracy and compliance to company standards.
- Once within a seven day cycle, audits the Finance Manager per Hotel Policies & Procedures; manages and maintains all of the Finance Manager’s cash auditing documentation and ensures balancing occurs daily.
- Once within a seven day cycle, audits the Crew Manager per Hotel Policies & Procedures; manages and maintains all of the Crew Manager’s cash auditing documentation and ensures balancing occurs daily.
- Once within a seven day cycle, audits all Debitek and Data4 operations to ensure accounting compliance and reporting accuracy.
- Promptly conducts an investigation in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures when any cash variance is declared. Prepares necessary reports and action recommendations.
- Verifies the auditing of exception reports and voids daily in accordance with Hotel 1. Manages the administration of passwords in applicable company programs in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Oversees key, combination, and alarm security in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Audits agreed revenue department processes as required and indicated on approved Checklist, and promptly reports findings to department managers and the Customer Services Director.
- Promptly and accurately completes the monthly Hotel Controller Summary Report and submits to the Hotel General Manager for review.
- Reviews all manual cash account vouchers submitted by the Finance Manager prior to posting in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Promptly reviews the Finance Manager’s balance sheets to ensure cash held onboard is within targets and to approve all Cash Orders before they leave the vessel.
- As per banking schedule, attends and audits the receiving and depositing of cash to and from the bank.
- Attends cash pay-outs (payroll, gratuities, etc.) in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Performs monthly, unannounced spot checks on all cash floats held onboard in compliance with Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Acts as the ships Group coordinator ensuring that all Group Leaders are met on embarkation day and as needed moving through the voyage. Ensures that all group requirements and lastminute requests are dealt with efficiently and with care.
- Accurately balances the group accounts in coordination with the Guest Services Manager and onboard revenue areas.
- Where necessary oversees the Junior Hotel Controllers Princess@Sea responsibilities.
- Ensures that full stock takes for all main storerooms (Hotel, revenue, and F&B) and bar locations are performed as required per Hotel Policies & Procedures, counts are entered into the Inventory system by the Junior Hotel Controller, and any variances that cannot be rectified by the relevant department head are reported to the Hotel General Manager and investigated to the standards set by the Corporate Office.
- Verifies the physical inventory routine for each storage location onboard and regularly analyzes inventory levels to verify inventory counts are accurate. Works with the Hotel Inventory Manager to manage down slow-moving and obsolete inventory. Reviews the reconciliation of invoices/POD (Proof of Delivery) against actual receipts and ensures receipts are entered into Crunchtime! per Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Participates productively in the monthly meeting regarding hotel stores, revenue, and food and beverage inventory levels and consumption issues/concerns.
- Audits inventory reports for hotel stores, revenue departments, and F&B, providing the Hotel General Manager, Customer Services Director, and F&B Director with analysis and financial data regarding consumption and inventory levels.
- In accordance with Hotel Controller’s Checklist, conducts periodic spot checks of physical inventory held in all main storerooms (Hotel, revenue, and F&B) and bar locations. Addresses and investigates all significant variances as defined by Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Regularly audits Crunchtime! and any other hotel-related inventory software to ensure receiving, issues, and adjustment entries are being performed accurately and to company standards.
- Knows role description of Junior Hotel Controller and delivers it as necessary to new joiners, returning and promoted teammate. Communicates clear expectations based on the role description.
- Promptly completes performance appraisals that are fair, objective, and accurate measurements based on observed behavior.
- Observes the teammember’s performance using his or her role description as a guide and delivers prompt and appropriate correction, improvement, or reinforcement. Coaches and develops a skilled, engaged team member to become the Consummate Host.
- Identifies top performers and mentors them for career advancement or promotion.
- Ensures compliance with Hotel Policies & Procedures, Fleet Regulations, and other applicable internal, external, and governmental regulations.
- Promptly performs General Emergency Organization duties as directed in the ERP. 3. Maintains current, accurate knowledge of United States Public Health standards and requirements. Promptly helps coordinate onboard resources and the response in case NoV, H1N1, or other outbreak situations necessitate increased sanitation levels. 4. Acts as liaison between all Hotel departments and the shoreside audit team on all financial control audits, meeting daily with the Auditor and being on hand at all times during the audit in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Assists in addressing internal and external audit findings and resolves in an appropriate and timely fashion; develops plans to prevent repeat findings. 6. Attends the Servsafe Course in accordance with Company policies and procedures and takes an active role in Public Health rounds and inspections as part of the senior hotel management team.
- Complies with all environmental policies (HESS-MS).
Qualifications:
- Degree in Hotel/Hospitality Management preferred, although appropriate experience in lieu thereof is sufficient.
- Three to five years experience as a Night Auditor/Hotel Controller.
- Must have strong auditing skills, used to dealing with report creating and accounting.
- Must have strong communication skills; written and oral command of the English language required.
- Minimum 5 years experience required in the hotel/Administration or cruise ship industry in a management/auditing capacity.
