As Fleet & Port Security Inspector you will conduct port and shore excursion security assessments to evaluate physical security and potential threats and ensures compliance with international codes/corporate standards and provide recommendations for mitigation of security vulnerabilities and improvement of security measures for ports and port facilities.
Additionally, you will provide coaching to Ship Security Officers, Security Supervisors and Guards in order to enable them to effectively fulfill their roles, while conducting ship security assessments and security quality assurance inspections.
This position reports to the Deputy Director Fleet Security Port Operations and does not have any direct employees.
Work requires extensive international travel from port to port and/or from ship to ship. Work beyond normal business hours may be required occasionally in order to support business needs, projects or operational support that may be required outside of normal business hours or on weekends.
Qualifications:
Education:
Practical experience in national/homeland security, maritime transportation management or related field. BS or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum five years security experience required in Law Enforcement and/or related Military, Maritime or other Government or Private Sector investigation
- Experience conducting investigations, interviews, crime scene preservation & evidence collection and comprehensive report writing, etc… required
- Teaching, instructing and training experience preferred
- Prior cruise vessel security experience preferred
- Ship Security Officer Certificate from an International maritime organization (IMO) or Flag State recognized Maritime Training Institution preferred
- Government ISPS/MTSA regulatory experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with U.S. and international port security officials, tour operators, ships officers and employees from other departments
- Good computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at the same time
- Ability to analyze, summarize and provide briefings on complex situations/events
- Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours essential

- The ability to use computer applications such as word, power point and excel.
- The ability to conduct and produce comprehensive Port & Tour destination assessments in accordance with guidance by Fleet Security management.
- The ability to effectively instruct and facilitate educational information via lesson plans and presentations to students in a classroom and or occupational situation.
- Certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), using an Intoximeters ALCO Sensor Vxl preferred.
