Carnival UK is back sailing the world, and we now have two brand new ships joining our fleet! This means that our business is expanding to allow us to continue creating unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests, and today we are recruiting for a Asset Manager. 

In line with the ongoing Carnival UK commitment to align with the Carnival Corporation investment in Asset Management reliability and lifecycle management, this role will be ideal for a candidate with proven experience as Senior Marine Engineering Officer, or as an experienced Reliability or System Engineer with experience in consolidating, auditing and maintaining an enterprise asset management system.

As the role holder, you will use your background in applied and planned engineering to influence Fleet Directors and Ship Managers to develop a strategic asset management planning associated with technical assets across the fleet of CUK vessels, to inform future investment decisions for the organization and to develop and maintain current and future risk portfolio, keeping this live by monitoring and investigating incidents and planning for suitable mitigations.

Accountabilities

Operational

  • Have a full understanding of our HESS culture and support leadership in developing and implementing the Safety Management System.
  • To support Carnival Corporation in driving our sustainability goals in protecting and respecting our environment, our people, guests and the communities we visit.
  • To identify areas of development and opportunity, particularly in the area of effective maintenance and prevention of unplanned failures to enhance the business return on associated assets.
  • Technical and compliance advice to shore side higher management in developing future strategy and alinement with Carnival Corporation Sustainability goals, with particular attention to influence a fleet wide strategy aimed to improve relevant KPIs and time between failures.
  • Develop and sustain CUK Asset Management Strategy for technical assets and ensure this directly supports the annual business plan.
  • Develop and sustain on policy development of asset management programmes and investment models which underpin the Asset Management Strategy in the area of capital investment planning and major high costs maintenance intervention.
  • Develop and sustain a 5 year investment programme to ensure Fleet Directors and Ship Managers can encompass its delivery within future investments and forecasts.
  • Sustain, update and implement the failure mode effect analysis study to the associated assets.
  • To liaise / consult with internal and external stakeholders including Maritime and external bodies to ensure the required levels of knowledge and consultation is underpinning all strategic decisions for asset management.
  • To ensure that all new and existing projects are being developed through an asset management project framework and are subject to the required management of change process and investment appraisal procedures.
  • Own the process to ensure a consistent, standardised approach to assets management by all users of the associated systems and audit the ships and systems to ensure these standards are met.
  • To proactively lead at ABG level with other Asset Management Technical leads on sharing good practices in particular continue to develop the close collaboration with other Operating Lines on the HESS Culture Programme.
  • Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation reports.
  • Analyse and present scientific data and do quality-control checks for internal continuous review.
  • Report any HESS-MS procedure implementation obstacles to shore management.

Projects & Refits

  • Propose, manage and deliver Corporate and CUK projects and initiatives as assigned, ensuring comprehensive completion and formal handover to ship managers and ship crew.
  • Lead and coordinate the planning, preparation and project management for area of responsibility, preparing specification of works for commercial tender, liaison with contractors during tender process to completion of works to a satisfactory standard.
  • Attend refits to manage and report specific scope.

Other

  • Attend fleet on a regular basis, at least one visit to each vessel per year to review/monitor discipline specific equipment and systems within their area of expertise.

Health, Environment, Safety, Security (HESS) Responsibilities

  • Lead by example by taking care of the health and safety of you and others
  • Report all accidents, ‘near miss’ incidents and work related ill health conditions to your manager
  • Lead by example in environmental protection and sustainability initiatives and internal events.
  • Use work equipment, personal protective equipment, substances, and safety devices correctly
  • Take part in safety and environmental protection training and influence ship and shore management with ways of reducing risks
  • Actively promote safe working within your team and encourage safe behaviours
  • Demonstrate safety and environmental protection leadership in accordance with our safety leadership behaviours

For at least two days a week, you’ll be based out of our fantastic offices in the heart of Southampton, less than two hours from central London. In our hybrid working environment, you can also expect to balance this with time spent working remotely every week.
About You

To be considered you will also need:

  • General knowledge of maritime regulations - MARPOL, MEPC, SOLAS, Class Rules & applicable Statutory Legislation.
  • Extensive experience in design and management of enterprise asset management systems, with particular focus in developing reliability, availability and serviceability functions.
  • An understanding of Maritime vessel operations or significant knowledge on environmental processes and legislation.

Qualifications – desirable:

  • An engineering-based bachelor’s or higher degree or have held a licensed position on-board as a Senior Technical Officer.
  • A recognised applied reliability or system engineering qualification.
  • Membership of Professional Institution.
  • Unlimited Chief Engineer.

Knowledge/ Experience – desirable:

  • Cruise industry experience.
  • Proven asset lifecycle management experience.
