SENIOR SOUND TECHNICIAN

We are recruiting experienced Sound Technicians to join our team at sea onboard Marella Cruises’ fleet of ships.

about the role
Led by and reporting to the Entertainment Technical Manager, the Senior Sound Technician will support the entertainment department in operating and maintaining all audio equipment on board the ship to the highest standards.

As the Senior Technician in charge of sound in the theatre, the ship’s main entertainment venue, you will be operating the audio and AV systems for our West End-style production shows on a nightly basis.

You will work with the latest technology & equipment to support the delivery of the programme. You will also be responsible, together with the stage team, for the set-up of the band equipment and the strike and build of the theatre sets related to each of the productions.

skills and experience
For this role, you must have proven experience of mixing live sound in a theatre environment for a minimum of two years. Knowledge of digital and analogue mixing consoles, QLab software, DANTE, and working with timecode is essential. You must be confident in mixing audio for live vocalists, musicians & multi-track playback. You will be responsible for the FOH mix as well as onstage foldback and in-ear monitoring.

You also need to be experienced in enforcing H&S procedures, and assisting with the overall technical operation of theatre production shows. Experience in leading a team and training junior technicains is desirable.

Previous sea-going experience is desirable.

contract information
The contract period for this role is up to 9 months with competitive pay, all meals and single occupancy cabin.

All applicants must be fully vaccinated, hold valid STCW certification (or be willing to obtain these) as well as an ENG1 or equivalent seafarer medical certificate.
