The Junior Payroll Purser is a shipboard finance position within Shipboard Financial Operations onboard Celebrity Cruises ships, reporting to the Administration Purser – Payroll and Time & Attendance, and plays a key role in supporting the end-to-end crew payroll process and related financial services. This position assists with the calculation, verification, and balancing of payroll components including salaries, gratuities, supplemental pay, commissions, and overtime, while researching discrepancies, preparing documentation, and supporting payroll audits. The Junior Payroll Purser also helps administer the timekeeping system, validates gratuity and departmental supplemental uploads, and manages shipboard crew receivables to ensure timely payments. A significant portion of the role involves direct interaction with crew, maintaining assigned office hours to assist with SeaPass, payroll, Salary@Sea inquiries, crew collections, and foreign exchange transactions, while maintaining and balancing a daily cash float. The role requires strict confidentiality when handling payroll data and payment information, clear communication and collaboration with onboard Human Resources and shipboard leadership, and the delivery of professional, friendly, and solutions-oriented service in alignment with Celebrity Cruises’ brand values. Successful candidates demonstrate strong administrative, analytical, and bookkeeping skills, attention to detail in a fast paced, high-volume environment, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit finance team. Qualifications include high school completion or equivalent, preferred experience in payroll or accounting, cash handling experience, strong computer proficiency including intermediate Excel skills, English fluency, and demonstrated potential for growth into leadership roles within Shipboard Financial Operations.
