3rd Assistant Electrician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The 3rd Assistant Electrician shall carry out the work orders given by Chief Electrical Engineer or 1st Electrical Engineer. They are skilled workers capable of working with minimum supervision, and with the ability to undertake basic electrical maintenance, repair work and basic troubleshooting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Each 3rd Assistant Electrician shall receive his specific job description in writing from the Chief Electrical Engineer, when he signs on the ship or if the job description has been changed. The specific job description shall be filed in the ships Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
2. Responsible for all interior and exterior (deck) lighting; ensure it is working and lamped up at all times.
3. Performs the light rounds on daily basis.
4. Repairs electrical equipment in guest and crew cabins.
5. Repairs vacuum cleaners.
6. Repair of electrical tools etc.
7. Is familiar with and operate within the AVO System.
8. Maintains cleanliness and order in the electrical and electronic workshops , and electrical lockers all over the ship.
9. Cleans and maintains filters of electrical dimming racks.
10. Helps Storekeepers with storing.
11. Performs duties as assigned by the supervisor.
12. Performs related duties as required for the Marine Department. This position description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the shipboard employee occupying this position.
13. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Hiring Requirements:

• Must possess minimum 2 years’ experience in related field
• Must hold Electrical Studies certificate(s) or diploma(s) in area of technical specialty.
• Three or more years’ progressive electrical/technical experience and training in the electrical field.
• Ability to perform the recommended responsibilities according to the Job Description.
• Previous exposure to international environments strongly preferred.
• Ability to communicate verbally and written with proficiency in English.
• Ability to work with an international staff in a positive and productive manner.
