Description

The assistant Storekeeper is responsible for assisting in managing the team working in the Hotel Stores, including maintaining inventory stock levels and quality control.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master in supervising the issuing of goods and participates in it as described in Onboard Accounting Policy and Procedure 6.04.
  2. Assists the Assistant Provision Master in implementing and executing proper maintenance and cleaning procedures in all storeroom areas in order to ensure good appearance and conditions of these areas.
  3. Assists the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master in regards to work planning and schedules for all storeroom employees.

General Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master in the overall direction, supervision of all employees assigned to the Storeroom operation.
  2. Assists the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master during the loading and landing of goods and as described in Onboard Accounting Policy and Procedure 6.04 . He participates physically in the storing of goods.
  3. Assists in checking the condition and storage of goods in order to meet with health and sanitation standards as per PHS 1202. Assist in ensuring all safety and environmental standards are being adhered to and all HESS requirements are met.
  4. Reports to the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master if any discrepancies on the inventory list are found during the issuing process.
  5. Reports any malfunctioning equipment or furnishings in need of repair or refurbishing to the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master
  6. Responsible to perform the tasks of the Provision Master and/or Assistant Provision Master when either of them is not present and takes care of the operation. Acquires the necessary knowledge to perform these duties under the direction of the Provision master and/or Assistant Provision Master. 
  7. Has adequate reading and writing English language skills to understand instructions and communicate in English with fellow crew and officers.
  8. Comply with company policy regarding waste separation and environmental
    compliance.


Desired Skills & Experience

  1. Requires vocational education or higher. International equivalent suffices
  2. Minimum 2 years of working experience in the storeroom operation in the cruise industry 
  3. Strong communication skills including written and verbal English communication.
  4. Basic working knowledge of computers and able to navigate basic computer programs like Windows and perform basic computer related tasks.
  5. Leadership, training and organizational skills demonstrated through past experience. 
  6. Ability to multi-task and handle constantly changing priorities.


Note: Other duties as assigned included and not limited to Health, Environmental, Safety and Security responsibilities.



Physical Requirements

  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting more than 25 pounds. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.
  • Ability to work 7 days per week.
  • Able to pass basic safety course.
