You, as the BRILLIANT Housekeeping Manager will own the guests experience related to cleanliness and visual impressions onboard, offering a seamless execution of premium service that is both exceptional and memorable.
- Role: Housekeeping Manager
- Cruise line: 5* Cruise Line
- Salary: $5500-6500 USD per month Tax free – paid whilst on board only
- Rotation: 6 months on and 2.5 months off
- Flights, accommodation, food and uniform all provided by the cruise line.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures Safety, Environmental and other company policies and standards are consistently maintained.
- Maintains constant front‐of‐house presence and utilizes the stateroom/suite inspection processes in accordance with company standard operating procedures.
- Supervises all cleaning processes in the public/crew areas. Inspects cleaning preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations about public areas. Monitors the care, use and maintenance of all equipment, machinery, supplies, etc.
- Collaborates with the Executive Housekeeper to review the requirements of the day’s schedule.
- Provides prompt inputs/ feedback to Housekeeping Administrator to update the guest log. To ensure all guest issues are recorded and resolved in a timely manner.
- Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work‐related activities as required.
- Is responsible for conducting daily inspections in the areas assigned.
- Is responsible for filling out performance evaluations, for direct reports
- Responds to guest concerns in a considerate, professional, and positive manner by showing empathy and listening actively.
- Develops and executes tactical plans to achieve financial targets, manage inventories for a flawless operation, properly schedule teams and projects to stay within Company/Department allocated Overtime funds.
- Always leads by example and always maintaining composure.
- KPI’s assigned to position/department.
- Gives constructive feedback to the team members who are not performing and use progressive discipline system to coach and discipline, manages hard conversations and inspire employees to perform better and correct mistakes.
- Performs related duties as required. This position description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the shipboard employee occupying this position. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job‐related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.
Requirements:
- Two to three years progressive Housekeeping managerial experience, preferably in an upscale hotel, resort, or cruise ship. (Shipboard experience preferred).
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling and safety related procedures, requirements and use of equipment, personal protective equipment and job safety analysis related to proper handling chemicals, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment, garbage removal.
- Knowledgeable about talent assessment techniques, quality service standards and guest satisfaction, development of crew / management, leadership skills and coaching abilities for front line employees and junior management, increased ability to solve issues.
- Working knowledge of financial aspects, budgeting, and cost containment, planning and future orders, inventories, and C&R.
- Must be able to utilize and administer the progressive disciplinary action process through coaching and counseling to improve performance where possible.
- Required to speak English clearly and distinctly, has aptitude to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures, including the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co‐workers. Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, Mandarin, Italian, French, German or Portuguese preferred.
