POSITION SUMMARY
The Entertainment Operator - Lighting is responsible for the daily operation
and maintenance of all lighting elements in the vessel’s main theater and
alternative entertainment venues. This includes set up, operation, and tear
down of all lighting equipment used for Production Shows, Headline
Entertainers, Enrichment speakers, presenters, and other users of the theater.
The Entertainment Operator - Lighting is responsible for operating the lighting
board and calling follow spot cues for all performances in the theater, and is
required to monitor and maintain organizational standards on lighting levels,
and visual designs. The Entertainment Operator – Lighting will liaise with
Headline Entertainers about their lighting requirements, design cues and
looks as necessary, attend all rehearsals, and assist at all stage resets.
Regular cleaning and maintenance of all lighting fixtures in the vessels rig will
be lead and conducted by the Entertainment Operator – Lighting. In addition
to the duties listed above, the Entertainment Operator – Lighting is also
responsible for assisting the Entertainment Staff on any lighting related tasks
in the vessels alternative entertainment venues as requested by the Stage &
Production Manager or Head Entertainment Operator.

Environmental standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain brand and industry standards for lighting quality in the main
theater (overall lighting levels and correct operation of theatrical
lighting equipment).
· Follow the daily written schedule for events, rehearsals, and
performances.
· Maintain professional and helpful interactions with guests attending
the shows if asked for assistance or given feedback.
· Liaise with the Stage & Production Manager or Technical Director for
maintaining and improving production value in the theater.
· Operate all lighting elements and call follow spot cues for scheduled
events in the vessel’s main theater and/or alternative entertainment
venues as necessary.
· Maintain accurate records of inventory for all consumables such as
fog fluid, lamps, lighting gels, and other lighting elements. Work with the
Head Entertainment Operator or Technical Director to make purchase
orders.
· Ensures the lighting plot and rig configurations are not changed
without written approval from the Head Office.
· Responsible for reporting and broken or deficient equipment to the
Head Entertainment Operator or Technical Director in a timely manner.
· Adhere to Celebrity’s SQM and safety standards, as well as meet and
maintain the artistic integrity of the produced theatrical shows.
· Participate in stage resets with the Entertainment Operator team.
· Works with the Stage & Production Manager or Technical Director to
ensure the theater set-up is clean, organized, and showcases an
appealing stage picture when the audience enters.
· Open theater doors 30 minutes prior to showtime or as instructed by
the Stage & Production Manager or Technical Director.
· Maintains a high level of production value for ship’s main theater.
· Upholds the integrity of shows and events in the theater produced by
Celebrity Cruises or those produced in conjunction with outside
Production Companies.
· Responsible for delivering results, with the Stage & Production
Manager, for Overall Entertainment ratings based on Theater
Production Shows and Headline Entertainers.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in theater (lighting design or technology) from an
accredited university or equivalent experience is required.
· Minimum 4 years’ experience in entertainment or theatrical lighting
operation, design, set up, and maintenance is required.
· Extensive knowledge and experience with Hog 3 and Hog 4 lighting
platforms is required.
· Extensive knowledge of lighting equipment, fixtures, vocabulary, and
relevant electrical knowledge.
· Experience working with intelligent and moving fixtures, maintenance,
cleaning, assembly, and technical troubleshooting.
· Working knowledge of computers (Windows and Mac) and connecting
to external devices such as projectors and TV screens, and relevant
troubleshooting.
· Previous experience on cruise ships or touring an asset.
· Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse team
environment to meet overall established timeframes.
· Ability to communicate tactfully with coworkers and other shipboard
employees to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.
· Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt well to
sudden changes.
Language Requirements
Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests and crew
members.
Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written
procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written
and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to
questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
