Your Purpose

As an Environmental Compliance Officer (ECO) with MSC , you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that our operations adhere to the highest environmental standards while maintaining regulatory compliance. You will work closely with the ship's crew to oversee the prevention of pollution, handling waste material, and ensuring that the crew fully understands and implements MARPOL regulations. The ECO ensures that we fulfill our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, enhancing the cruise experience for our guests while preserving the planet for future generations. 

Your Impact

Your role will directly influence the environmental sustainability of our cruise line. By enforcing MARPOL regulations, you will ensure that waste is properly managed and disposed of, mitigating pollution risks and protecting marine ecosystems. Your ability to guide, educate, and lead the crew in best practices will significantly contribute to our company’s green initiatives and environmental reputation. Your actions will support the broader goal of creating a sustainable future for the cruise industry and our oceans. Your Journey So Far

We are looking for a professional with a demonstrated background in maritime operations. Ideal candidates will possess: 

 

Educational Background:You hold an Environmental/Science-based bachelor’s degree or higher, or you have completed Deck/Engine Officer qualifications. This educational foundation will equip you to understand and apply the environmental principles that guide the cruise industry. 

Training:You have successfully completed the Environmental Compliance Officer Company Training or have a similar certification. This ensures you have the practical knowledge and expertise required to execute environmental compliance on board. 

Experience:Ideally, you have previous experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the maritime or cruise industry. This experience will help you quickly integrate into the team and navigate the regulatory environment with ease. 

Ability to Lead and Educate: You possess strong communication and leadership skills, enabling you to effectively guide and educate the crew in pollution prevention practices. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring crew compliance with environmental protocols. 

Your Essentials

To be considered for the role of Environmental Compliance Officer, you must meet the following qualifications: 

Fluent English: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both written and spoken. 

Educational Background: Environmental or Science-based bachelor’s degree or higher, or Deck/Engine Officer qualifications. 

Training: Successful completion of Environmental Compliance Officer Company Training. 

Knowledge & Experience: Familiarity with MARPOL regulations, waste management, and pollution prevention protocols. Previous experience in environmental compliance or a maritime-related role is highly valued. 

Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to train and motivate crew, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a proactive approach to environmental challenges.
