Position Overview

  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all electrical, electronic, and automation systems onboard.
  • Reports to the 1st Electrical Engineer.
  • Perform any additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
  • All activities must adhere to the Company’s Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: University or college degree, or relevant shipboard experience.
  • Licenses: Valid electrician license recognized by flag state preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in electrical systems, electronics, and automation.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Skills & Results
  • Assist the Engineer Watch Officer by monitoring machinery operations in the engine room.
  • Participate in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of engine room and hotel machinery.
  • Support 2nd Electrical Engineer with coordination, operation, and upkeep of electrical and automation systems.
  • Perform repairs with minimal supervision; read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, even under pressure and interruptions.

People Skills & Teamwork

  • Demonstrate professional leadership and positive energy when engaging with crew and guests.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve equipment failures quickly and minimize downtime.
  • Work well within a team, supporting fellow maintenance personnel.

Physical & Communication Requirements

  • Regularly stand, walk, handle tools, reach, talk, hear, and communicate clearly.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be physically capable of participating in emergency drills and lifesaving procedures.
  • Full use of arms, legs, vision, hearing, and verbal communication required.
  • Proficient in English—ability to understand instructions, communicate effectively, and respond to questions.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements
