Position Overview
- Acts as the Deputy Staff Captain and Licensed Watchkeeping Officer.
- Leads crew safety training, enforces compliance with international regulations (SOLAS, IMO, Flag State, Port State, Classification Society).
- Supports the Safety Officer and works closely with the Bridge Team to maintain high safety standards.
- Works primarily during daytime hours to ensure effective safety training and oversight.
Qualifications
- Licenses: Chief Mate/Officer Unlimited License (Class II).
- Certifications: Trainer and Assessor Course (TTTI), Fast Rescue Boat (FRB) STCW VI/2.
- Experience: Served as 1st Officer in all three specialties (navigation, safety, deck) for at least one contract.
- Additional Skills: Knowledge of accident prevention, investigation, and safety management systems.
Core Competencies
- Operational & Safety Leadership
- Conduct crew training on emergency duties, safety procedures, and compliance.
- Manage the Nautical Safety Team and oversee safety equipment maintenance.
- Maintain knowledge of all bridge equipment and navigational routines.
- Support navigation duties and assist in arrival/departure procedures when possible.
- Act as a senior bridge resource when required.
Safety & Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with SQM, USPH, environmental, and safety policies.
- Maintain and update safety and emergency documentation (e.g., AMOS, Encore, databases).
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Monitor and manage safety drills, including lifeboat launches, fire drills, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure all safety equipment is operational and properly documented.
Training & Development
- Deliver and oversee mandatory safety and emergency training (Pre-Departure, Crowd Management, Lifeboat, Crisis Management, etc.).
- Ensure crew qualifications meet regulatory requirements.
- Promote a safety-first culture among crew and guests.
- Support safety initiatives such as “Safety is Everybody’s Business” and Workplace Safety programs.
Administrative & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain accurate safety, training, and certification databases.
- Ensure all safety documentation and records are up-to-date and compliant with regulations.
- Keep abreast of updates to safety policies and communicate changes fleet-wide.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and safety activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Actively participate in continuous safety improvement initiatives.

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
Language Requirements
