Your Purpose
We are pleased to be hiring for a Machinery Manager to join our growing site team. The Machinery Manager is responsible for supervising all activities related to main engines and auxiliary systems, from equipment installation through start-up, commissioning, and final delivery.
The role ensures that all engine and auxiliary systems have been built, commissioned, and delivered in accordance with technical specifications and shipbuilding best practices. You will also ensure that these systems are safe to be operated and maintained.
Your Impact
• Monitors all works related to the installation and the commissioning of main generators, auxiliary systems and other various engine room equipment with specific knowledge of: o Power production plant;
o Propulsion plant, including auxiliary equipment, automation and safety systems;
o Development and verification of relevant communication and interfaces protocols, machinery equipment, data networks;
o Scrubber system, SCR, propellers, steam production plant, cooling systems, machinery ventilation, pumps and fans including inverters and electric motors and their application to the ships’ systems and machinery spaces;
o Fuel system, lube oil system, freshwater production plant, piping system, valves and fittings, compressed air production plant;
o Engine Room and technical spaces ventilation;
o Main rudders system;
o SRtP rules;
o Any other system located in engine room spaces, so that they are all inspected, verified and functionally tested to meet the design parameters and contractual requirements;
• Ensures that all shipyard works follow approved drawings and specifications and comply with applicable standards.
• Verifies that all equipment and systems comply with statutory requirements and are safe to operate.
• Ensures that equipment and systems provide reasonable access for maintenance and repair, together with manufacturers recommended planned maintenance and installation procedures
• Liaises closely with the Technical Office for plan approval activities.
• Attends project meetings and prepare weekly progress reports.
• Ensures that deficiencies identified during inspections are properly recorded, tracked, and resolved (defects and/or remarks).
• Attends sea trials, dry-dock activities, and initial vessel operations (post-delivery).
Your Journey so far
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, or Class 1 Certificate of Competency as Marine Chief Engineer, Staff Engineer or similar positions
• Significant experience in ship building, classification societies, ship operators, technical suppliers or engineering firms as a technical expert within Marine Engineering, relating specifically to cruise ships;
• Detailed and thorough knowledge of Marine Electrical Engineering and its application to cruise ships construction;
• Understanding of shipbuilding and programming knowledge combined with basic knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, classification rules and marine standards;
• Excellent analytical skills and experience with reviewing specifications, drawings, layouts and other technical documentation;
• Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint)
Your Essentials
• Right to work in Italy and to travel within the EU
• Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian is a plus
