Your Purpose
The Travelling Guarantee Engineer is a shipboard-focused technical role responsible for managing (creating / coordinating) and resolving guarantee-related matters directly onboard vessels. The position ensures timely identification, analysis, and resolution of guarantee issues during vessel operation, working in close coordination with ship operations, shore-based technical teams and reporting directly to the Head of Technical New Building & Guarantees.
Your Impact
Onboard Guarantee Management
- Embarks onboard vessels to manage guarantee topics directly at ship level.
- Identifies, investigate, and document technical deficiencies falling under contractual guarantees.
- Coordinates and supervise corrective actions performed by ship staff, shipyards, or service suppliers.
- Ensures guarantee issues are addressed within contractual time limits and in accordance with agreed technical standards.
Technical Assessment & Coordination
- Performs onboard inspections, tests, and measurements to support guarantee claims.
- Liaises with ship staff, fleet technical departments, shipyards, makers, and superintendents.
- Provides real-time technical feedback to shore-based management and stakeholders.
New Building & Delivery Support
- Supports vessels during delivery at the Shipyards (Protocol of Delivery preparation) and guarantee periods with an onboard presence.
- Supports in closure of Protocol of Delivery - related items.
- Attends sea trials, delivery voyages (crossing), and post-delivery follow-ups when required.
- Supports the verification and close-out of guarantee items originating from construction and delivery phases.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepares clear onboard technical reports, defect lists, and photographic documentation.
- Ensures proper handover of technical information between onboard assignments and shore teams.
- Maintains accurate records and provide regular reporting of Guarantee activities, findings, and corrective actions (using Shipyard/ MSC tools whenever required).
Safety & Compliance
- Carries out all onboard activities in full compliance with safety management systems and company procedures.
- Promotes safe working practices during inspections and troubleshooting activities.
Your Journey so far
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent technical qualification (preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipboard technical roles, new building, or guarantee management.
- Previous onboard experience is essential.
- Good understanding of ship specifications, and guarantee clauses.
