JOB PURPOSE

MSC Cruises is the world’s third-largest cruise brand as well as the leader in Europe, South America, the Gulf region, and Southern Africa with more market share in addition to deployed capacity than any other player. It is also the fastest-growing global cruise brand with a strong presence in the Caribbean, North America, and Far East markets. Headquartered in Geneva, MSC Cruises is one of the two brands that sit within the Cruise Division of MSC Group, the leading privately held Swiss-based shipping and logistics conglomerate with over 300 years of maritime heritage. MSC Cruises – the contemporary brand - has a modern fleet of 22 cruise ships with three new vessels due to be launched in 2025, 2026, and 2027. We are seeking an experienced and technically driven Customer Data & Identity Engineer to join the Customer Data & Identity team.
The Engineer acts as the technical counterpart of the Product Management team, responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and continuous improvement of all software running on the Customer Hub (CHUB) platform. The Customer Hub is MSC Cruises’ integrated customer data platform, bringing together customer identity and master data management to support a consistent customer experience across all touchpoints, from pre-cruise booking through post-cruise engagement.
Working closely with the Customer Data & Identity Manager, this role is the primary technical liaison between MSC and its external development and Application Management (AM) vendors. The primary focus is on business-as-usual operations: maintaining platform stability in production, driving the systematic reduction of technical debt, and ensuring the quality and reliability of existing software. The role also supports the evolution of the platform through new projects and change requests.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•    Act as the primary technical point of contact for all software and integration deliverables, validating adherence to functional requirements, technical standards, and performance benchmarks before release approval.

•    Provide technical governance for platform evolution initiatives (projects and change requests), ensuring integration integrity, code quality, and compliance with platform architecture standards.

•    Coordinate and challenge external development vendors on architecture decisions, integration design, code quality, and technical documentation; escalate risks and blockers to the Product Management team where required.

•    Configure and support the evolution of MDM components, including match & merge rules, survivorship logic, data quality controls, hierarchy management, and identity resolution processes.

•    Collaborate on the design and evolution of customer data models, integration patterns, and master data governance standards to ensure scalability and consistency across the ecosystem.

•    Maintain and evolve technical documentation of the CHUB platform, including integration maps, data flows, and release notes.

•    Participate in Agile/SAFe delivery ceremonies (PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, Release Planning) as the technical voice of the team, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution.

•    Support and collaborate closely with the Application Management (AM) team in the triage, analysis, and resolution of production incidents and defects, providing technical guidance and escalation support.

•    Own technical incident escalation and root cause analysis for production issues, coordinating resolution across internal teams and external vendors.

•    Drive the identification and systematic reduction of technical debt across the CHUB platform, coordinating with development vendors to prioritise and implement improvements in production software.

QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)

MUST HAVE
•    Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent.

•    Minimum 5 years of experience in technical delivery of data projects involving MDM application and Datalake architecture, technical QA, or senior engineering roles within complex, multi-system environments

•    Hands-on experience with Informatica Cloud MDM or similar MDM platforms (mandatory).

•    Strong proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Fabric (cloud data platform, Lakehouse architecture).

•    Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF): pipeline design, orchestration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

•    Proven experience in quality assurance and technical validation of software releases, including API and data integration testing.

•    Experience supporting or coordinating Application Management (AM) teams in production environments, including incident triage and defect lifecycle management.

•    Experience managing or coordinating external development vendors, with the ability to challenge technical decisions constructively.

•    Solid understanding of RESTful API concepts, integration patterns, and data flows.

•    Experience working in Agile environments, ideally within a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) delivery model.

•    Fluent in English (mandatory).

NICE TO HAVE
•    Knowledge of Salesforce CRM (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud), including integration patterns and data model.

•    Knowledge of Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), or Adobe Real-Time CDP.

•    Experience with Couchbase or other NoSQL database technologies.

•    Working knowledge of REST API development.

•    Exposure to the travel, hospitality, cruise, or leisure industry.

•    Right to work in Italy
