Description

Princess Cruises is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Traveling Manager, Lighting & Video to provide fleetwide leadership and technical expertise for lighting, video, projection, LED display systems, media servers, networking, show control systems, and associated entertainment technologies.

This global traveling role works closely with shipboard and shoreside teams to maintain entertainment system standards, preserve original show design intent, support new productions and installations, guide technical teams, and ensure safe and reliable operation of advanced entertainment technologies across the Princess fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Fleetwide Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the fleet subject matter expert for lighting, video, networking, show control, media servers, projection systems, LED technologies, and theatrical special effects.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for shipboard entertainment systems.
  • Maintain show quality by protecting original lighting and video design intent.
  • Support technical teams with operational guidance, best practices, programming support, and training.

Show Support & Technical Excellence

  • Review production shows, entertainment programming, and venue systems to ensure consistency with fleet standards.
  • Evaluate lighting looks, video playback, projection mapping, LED displays, show control performance, and media server functionality.
  • Develop technical documentation, system drawings, show files, backup strategies, and operational support materials.
  • Support production updates, show maintenance, equipment replacements, and creative modifications.

Project Management & Installations

  • Lead technical support for:
  1. New shows
  2. Venue upgrades
  3. Dry docks
  4. Refits
  5. New builds
  6. Equipment commissioning
  7. Acceptance testing
  8. Technical rehearsals
  • Develop scopes of work, RFQs, equipment specifications, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate vendors, manufacturers, consultants, scenic providers, and shipboard teams.

Training & Development

  • Deliver training and mentorship to:
  1. Assistant Production Lighting Managers
  2. Lighting Technicians
  3. Video Operators
  4. Entertainment Technical Teams
  • Create technical training resources and onboarding programs.
  • Provide system-specific instruction on consoles, media servers, networking, and show control systems.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote safe operation of all lighting and video systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Fleet Regulations, HESS standards, and company safety policies.
  • Support hazard identification, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and technical documentation.
  • Reinforce electrical safety, rigging awareness, PPE use, and safe working practices.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience onboard cruise ships or a comparable live entertainment environment.
  • Significant experience supporting professional lighting and video systems.
  • Experience leading entertainment technology projects, installations, upgrades, or venue commissioning.
  • Experience training technical teams and supporting operational troubleshooting.

Leadership Skills

  • Strong project management capability.
  • Vendor and stakeholder management experience.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Proven leadership in fast-paced entertainment environments.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Lighting Design, Entertainment Technology, Technical Theatre, or related discipline.
  • Manufacturer certifications in lighting, media server, networking, special effects, or control systems.
  • Experience supporting cruise ship entertainment operations.
  • Safety leadership, electrical awareness, or fall protection certifications.

Travel Requirements
This is a fleet-traveling position that requires frequent international travel and assignments aboard Princess Cruises vessels worldwide. Candidates must be willing and able to travel extensively and support multiple projects, installations, inspections, and operational visits throughout the year.
