JOB PURPOSE

MSC Cruises is seeking a Cyber Defense Junior Specialist to join its Cyber Defense team.
This role is ideal for a cybersecurity professional with approximately 2 years of experience interested in developing expertise in Security Operations, cyber defense technologies, incident coordination, endpoint security, and operational cybersecurity services.
The successful candidate will contribute to the daily operation of enterprise cybersecurity controls, supporting the protection of corporate systems, servers, endpoints, users, and digital services. The role provides first-line operational support, assists in the coordination of cybersecurity incidents, and collaborates with specialist teams to ensure effective and timely resolution of security-related issues.
The position includes participation in an on-call rotation and involvement in Priority 1 (P1) incident management and cybersecurity war rooms when required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•    Perform first-level operational cybersecurity activities across multiple enterprise security platforms.
•    Monitor and process cybersecurity service requests, and operational tasks through ServiceNow.
•    Support the coordination and engagement of specialist cybersecurity teams during technical investigations and operational escalations.
•    Participate in cybersecurity war rooms and Priority 1 (P1) incidents, ensuring proper communication and tracking of actions.
•    Execute email security administration activities, including whitelisting, blacklisting, sender reputation management, and antispam/antiphishing policy support.
•    Manage operational requests related to web security proxy services, including URL categorization reviews, access validation, and policy exception processing.
•    Support the lifecycle management of cybersecurity agents deployed on endpoints and servers, ensuring proper installation, upgrade, health monitoring, and operational compliance.
•    Assist in maintaining cybersecurity baseline compliance across workstations and servers by identifying deviations and coordinating corrective actions with IT teams.
•    Support security control validation activities and verify the effectiveness of deployed cybersecurity protections.
•    Perform initial assessment and classification of security alerts generated by platforms before involving specialized teams.
•    Maintain operational documentation, procedures, knowledge articles, and service runbooks.

QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)

•    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related technical discipline.
•    Minimum 2 years of experience in Cyber Security, IT Security Operations, Infrastructure Security or related technical roles.
•    Fluent Italian and English, both written and spoken.
•    Availability to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to work effectively in a dynamic international environment.
The following certifications are highly desirable:

•    CompTIA Security+
•    Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
•    ITIL Foundation
•    ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity 
•    ISACA Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate

VISA REQUIREMENTS

•    Right to work in Italy is required. 

WHAT WE OFFER

In compliance with the applicable pay transparency legislation, the following information is provided regarding the initial compensation foreseen for the position.
Contract
-    Applicable Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL): “Addetti agli uffici ed ai terminals delle società di navigazione che esercitano l’armamento privato” – sez. personale di terra
-    Gross annual salary (RAL): between €25.000 – €32.000 gross per year, paid over 14 monthly installments
-    Meal vouchers: worth €8 per on-site working day
The offer in terms of salary will be determined based on the candidate’s professional experience, technical competencies, and the level of autonomy and responsibility assigned to the role.
