Your Purpose
The Senior Managing Director of Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is the most senior executive on the island, responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of this flagship private island destination in The Bahamas. The role carries full P&L accountability and oversees the full spectrum of island operations, including hospitality, guest experience, commercial activities, infrastructure, and marine logistics. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence and sustainable growth while delivering exceptional, brand-differentiated experiences for both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys. Working across corporate, shipboard, and Bahamian leadership teams, the role will foster a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged culture while building strong relationships with employees, government, local communities, and strategic partners. The Senior Managing Director will also play a key role in Ocean Cay’s long-term development, balancing commercial objectives and brand integrity with environmental stewardship, marine conservation, and responsible tourism. Success will require strategic vision, operational agility, strong financial leadership, and the ability to navigate a complex, high-touch hospitality environment. This position is based onsite, on Ocean Cay, staff accommodation is provided
Your Impact
Provide executive oversight of all Ocean Cay operations, including hospitality, F&B, retail, excursions, marine logistics, marina, and infrastructure.
Lead multidisciplinary teams and align shipboard, corporate, and third-party partners.
Drive operational excellence, business continuity, risk management, and crisis preparedness.
Own guest experience strategy and ensure consistent, premium service across all touchpoints.
Monitor NPS, guest insights, and performance metrics to continuously improve the experience.
Drive revenue growth across excursions, retail, F&B, and ancillary offerings.
Identify, develop, and scale new commercial and revenue-generating opportunities.
Use guest analytics and market trends to optimize product mix, pricing, and experiences.
Support long-term master planning, capacity growth, infrastructure, and capital investments.
Lead and inspire a high-performing, diverse workforce with a strong culture of safety, service, accountability, and inclusion.
Partner with HR on talent development, engagement, succession planning, and local workforce strategies.
Own full P&L, budgeting, CapEx, financial governance, and strategic reinvestment.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental standards.
Champion Ocean Cay’s sustainability and marine conservation mission.
Build strong relationships with Bahamian government, communities, regulators, and other external stakeholders
Your Journey so far
20+ years of senior leadership experience in complex hospitality, destination management, or luxury resort environments.
International and/or multi-brand experience preferred.
Proven P&L ownership, operational excellence, and strategic growth experience.
Track record of leading organizational culture and employee engagement initiatives.
Experience managing cross-functional teams spanning operations, commercial, infrastructure, and guest experience.
Strong background in community relations, stakeholder engagement, and government affairs.
Experience leading CapEx and infrastructure development.
Deep understanding of luxury guest expectations and brand alignment.
Experience integrating cruise, resort, or destination operations.
Passion for sustainability and marine conservation.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strategic vision combined with strong operational execution.
Inspirational leadership and ability to lead culturally diverse teams.
High adaptability, resilience, and problem-solving ability.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management, or related field required; Master’s/MBA strongly preferred.
