Job Description

RECEPTIONIST

Purpose of Position

To provide passenger with friendly, personalized front-desk service, 24 hours a day in a manner consistent with Viking Ocean Cruises’ high standard of passenger service.

Your Responsibilities

  • Process all guests at embarkation/registration according to the embarkation SOP. This includes, check-in, collecting passports and other documents. Issue boarding cards to each guest embarking.
  • Maintain a working cash flow for the cashing of guest travellers checks, collecting payments, etc. This fund has to be balanced daily. Receipts are to be submitted to the Night Auditor for processing. Shortages are the responsibility of the Receptionist
  • Process guest credit-card vouchers for eventual settlement of their voyage Account
  • Ensure that all guest complaints received at the Reception Desk are either settled immediately or referred to the relative party for follow up. Guest to be promptly advised of all actions taken.
  • Become knowledgeable concerning all facets of shipboard organization and services, ports of call and shore excursions.
  • Receive and inventory lost and found items. Inventory of found items has to be completed in a presence of person submitting them and both parties sign inventory log. Maintain a log of all found items and reports of lost items.
  • Ensure that the Reception area is kept in a presentable, clean and orderly manner at all times
  • Prepares the Berthing list, Guest lists, Party invitations, Gift Orders and special notes from the Ship’s management to the guests
  • Personalize commemorative certificates for all passengers and arrange for distribution
  • Active participation in onboard training programs.
  • Additional duties, not mentioned here, will be expected as per management request.

Supervisor: 1st Purser / Chief Concierge

Receives instructions from:  1st Purser / Chief Purser

Your Profile

  • Graduated education in hotel / professional experience.
  • At least 2 years in similar position in 4* or 5* operation.
  • Excellent English skills, other languages are an asset
  • International experience / shipboard experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently, service and sales oriented and guest focused, positive personality and professional appearance.
  • Flexible and stress resistant, team player, shows commitment, high level of integrity, tactful and courteous,
  • Preferred age 20 – 40.
